Just heard the news on the French radio at the evening news here(it's 19:20 PM) reported as said by Bas: "serious, but not life threatening". Professor Gérard Saillant, one of the top french surgeons, who is specialist of mending broken bones and articulations and has cured many famous sportsmen (he was, I think, the one who supervised the mending of Jacques Laffite 44 broken bones in 1986, among countless others) has just been flown in at the minute at the Grenoble hospital where Michael is treated: he is a friend of Michael, and also President of the institue for brain disease founded by Michael and Jean Todt. P.S: injury reported as "cranial trauma" (I don't know the exact english translation for the french "traumatisme crânien"...) although that it must be probably somewhat vague, and what has been issued in the press release, as the french laws about privacy of medical information forbides giving any information about medical condition without the patient consent. The latest reports say that he's out of danger and he'll have a full recovery. In the end doctors mentioned that he's alive thanks to the fact that he was wearing a helmet.
He was probably transferred because they wanted to do an MRI so they needed to go to a larger hospital-it may just be pre-cautionary but should still be always taken seriously. Michael's probably a heck of a skier-kind of like the hockey/ski crowd that grow up just north of where I live (much better skiers than me by the way!). These guys were wearing helmets way before anybody else was and it's real good that schumie was also
French press is now saying his life prognostic is unknown. Savoie | Méribel : Michael Schumacher victime d’un grave accident de ski
Plenty of conflicting reports out. BBC will update in the next few minutes...but more reliable I suppose.
Now in Germany the media is reporting, that he is in critical condition. (21:29 MEZ) He was on a private ski-tour with his son and friends. Now, the rest of the family is arriving at the hospital in Grenoble. His wife and his daughter are there and his father is on the way. Sounds not good.
Do you have a source? The usual suspects, first and foremost Bild, quote Le Dauphiné Libéré in respect to the critical condition, with the news from ~20:00 MEZ
News by Bild: RMC Sports (whoever that is - edit: Radio Monte Carlo) reports that Schumi suffers from a cerebral haemorrhage.
On the RMC site they said their source is a medical staff but the hospital said they wouldnt comment on his health for the time being. So hopefully it is just a wrong info. f1 : Schumacher victime d?un accident de ski
ZDF for the cerebral haemorrhage and the critical condition. TV1 (ok, its french) for the arriving of the family
