I am surprised and a little sad Montezemolo is not there already.

John, I am sorry for your loss. I hope your brother, without the Schumacher name, received the same level of medical attention that we witness now.

Very sad to see this news. I've enjoyed watching him race over the years and appreciate all he did for Ferrari to get that post-Enzo championship to fruition.

I wish him a complete & speedy recovery.

I think that it's perhaps best for him to stay away and avoid involvement in what must surely be turning into a "media circus". If he has sent a private message to the family, that would be quite appropriate. Just my opinion.

I can understand though if he's trying not to 'get in the way' of family and friends. I'd question how close of a relationship he had with Schu after his days ended at Ferrari anyway.

I think the fact that he is not there says a lot about how their relationship ended/is. Before he left the scuderia, they looked like a family so I would have thought Montezemolo would have made his way to Grenoble by now. Even if it is to be told by Drs that he cant see him. Grenoble is a few hours drive from Maranello.

I think it chilled after ms returned to f1 with MB but I think that LDM is no doubt staying away anyways to avoid what is/will become the media circus.

    What about Flavio Briatore?
    Norbert Haug?
    Bernie Ecclestone?

    Where does it end?

The hospital can only cope with so many people visiting and lets be fair here, Michael isn't the only patient in that hospital. it still has to be able to operate as a working hospital whilst dealing with all of the media clogging the place up, let alone the whole of the F1 World turning up!

Added to that, there will be all manner of things going on in private that we will never know about!

I wouldn't be surprised if LdM has already spoken to Corinna by phone to say that if there is anything she or the family need, let him/Ferrari know and they'll sort it! (Mercedes will have also done the same, along with many others I suspect).

I think we should stop the speculation about LdM. It is inconceivable that he wouldn't have made an appropriate gesture to the family, in private. That is all that should matter, and we do ourselves a disservice to suggest otherwise. In time the facts will come out.

"Everyone at Ferrari has been in a state of anxiety since hearing about Michael Schumacher's accident," it said, adding that company president, Luca di Montezemolo, and race team leader, Stefano Domenicali, were in contact with the family.

Personally, I think there is only so much any of us can do and I trust that LdM has a good understanding of his role in this crisis....much better than I can prescribe to him.

Were I in his shoes, I would remain in the background and deal with the family in private and not the media. I would understand that my mere presence will be interpreted by some to be a grim sign. Unless MS sees him a mentor or inner-circle figure, the most prudent thing would be to stay in the backround.

    Yikes.
"The resort said Schumacher was conscious when first responders arrived, although agitated and in shock. But Payen said Monday that after the fall Schumacher was not in a "normal state of consciousness." He was not responding to questions and his limbs appeared to be moving involuntarily."

As often happens idle speculation takes over when there is a lack of hard news.

Could not agree more, this wild speculation is not only shameless but should not be the focus, Schu's health should be the only focus.

It's not so much the idle speculation that I find rather irritating, its the frankly ridiculous aspersions being hinted at that LdM does not really care what has happened to Schuey because of how things ended between them!

It's a nonsense! - LdM will be devastated by these tragic events and will want to do anything he can to aid both Schuey and his family, not just right now but for the foreseeable future!

As I have previously posted, I'm sure he will have been in direct contact with the family and reassured them that if they need anything it will be no problem!

LdM and Ferrari will do the right thing, count on that. They are all communicating. Only physicians , prayers & close family needed now.

Right now, MS is in an induced coma after brain surgery. All that matters is his recovery.
