That is a GREAT car. as a previous 914/6 owner (1970s) do you have any pictures of it? Is there a thread of the restoration? Thanks in advance and a GREAT car. Fun to drive if my old memory is still good

Good to see another major restoration project, looks great. Some progress drivers door now assembled, Al is going to paint all the black once the glass is in.

Beautiful! I love the color of blue and the red interior looks great as well. Fun combo, extreme colors for an extreme car.

Is that the original interior? Or previously redone before you owned? Or recently by you? What are your long-term plans for the interior?

When done, could you please take a bunch of photos from all angles, inside and out, and post?

    Thanks

p.s. - I'm really curious how much it cost for this extensive rebuild, including any breakdown of different stages and problem fixes if you were given that information. If you would rather not share cost, I totally understand. But it would be helpful to calibrate the ambitions of other forum members who are thinking about buying a fixer upper.

The interior is original apart from the new side panels to go back to original i.e. speakers behind the perforations. The only part that really needs to be re-done is the panel that houses the switches as the alignment to the main console cover is not great. We have saved the original leather from the side panels and will use this to re-trim this area. I suspect the fibreglass underneath will need to be re-shaped to improve the fit, but that is not a big job.

Will get the images posted up once we are complete which is hopefully not too far away now! Where possible we have tried to leave as much of the car original as possible and have only used new material where there was no way of saving the original parts e.g. the roof.

No worries from me, good to see what all the other car guys are upto. Would be good to have a dedicated thread to the 914/6 rebuild, very rare car and looks like a mega no expense spared restoration.

Small things underway now as follows. Passenger door lock re-worked from a new Diablo unit, door locks back to chrome, they were painted black for some reason! Light and window surrounds stripped ready for re-painting, and finally new lenses trimmed to size.

    Nice work Simon,
Is that a custom made glass or a countach glass? Why did You have to trim it ?

It is a Countach lens but the lamp buckets are very slightly different side to side? I am guessing just general build variation?

I love the blue. It looks great. And congratulations on a very sweet restoration. But IMVHO, I personally do not like the way the red interior is clashing with the blue exterior.

I also always wondered why someone would order a red interior with blue, yellow or other very contrasting colors.

But nice to see a refreshed car, congrats!

It's not going to be to every ones tastes but I am quite happy with the results. I did not want a 'standard' car if there is such a thing in the Countach world, but a more subtle exterior colour.

I love the blue, and I also love red interior (I have two) but both together are a bit weird for me. But I envy you with your Countach ;-)

I'm not a huge fan of the color combo but if you like it then thats all that matters.
