After having my dash redone twice now I am convinced there has to be a better solution Living in south florida the heat warps the factory defrost vents and the leather keeps shrinking up What can I do?
Do you use a sun shade when parked outside and slight window down when appropriate? Advise against the move. While our dash looks great it will be below 0 this weekend and she's in 5mon hibernation.
5 month hibernation.. You have no idea what you are missing brother.. It rained so all the salt is gone.. Ferrari's love the cool cold weather.. She becomes very snappy.. All you have to do is be careful if your running summer tires.. I actually drive mine less in the summer.. Ideal time of year - autumn and spring.. Winter until snow hits and they throw salt on the road.. but once it rains and I am convinced that the salt is gone.. Out she comes again for some more 1 on 1.. Go on... try it... you'll like it.. no shrinkage either.. R
Only way to avoid this issue, is to make sure to put the sun shade on every time you park outside, that is what i do ... and yes i absolutely agree that has to be a better way !
Drove the car this past weekend up to Boston, ~20 - 40 deg weather, ran great. No need to hibernate in the New England winters... But yes, the salt on the roads must wash away before driving...
I live in central FL and my last Ferrari had the OEM dash in 100% perfect condition after 20 years of ownership. Same with my Porsches, etc. I recommend: 1. Reducing the temperature of the dash >>Cover car >>Park in shade or garage >>Some answers from #2 2. Reduce the exposure to solar radiation. >>Try UV Front windshield tint (entire windshield), its mostly clear, but reflects UV >>Tint the top 4-5 inches of the windshield. Check local laws first >>Use a sun shield. I don't, but then again I am lucky. 3. Condition your leather: >> I only use Leatherique. Do it bi-annually or twice a year, whichever comes first. The leather in all of my vehicles looks "like new" 4. Move up north where taxes and real-estate are painful and the driving season is 7-8 months, then buy a second home in FL and wish you lived there permanently. Really... ...Maybe if your Location was Hawaii or something, but New Jersey, really?
The volume of sand, black ice following rains, and calcium chloride has me enjoying other vehicles and looking forward to March. While she is just a thing I don't trust others on the road this time of year. Insurance claims are enough of a hassle with DD bumper cars.
I use leatherique religiously but this has not solved the problem I havnt noticed the same issue with the 430 but maybe that's just because I havnt seen it
I talked with Rod, at Francorchamps of America in Costa Mesa, concerning 360 dash leather shrinking issues. He has the dash custom reupholstered with more leather overlap on the vents & edges. This secures the leather much better, so it minimizes shrinkage. Unfortunately for me I found out about it after I purchased a new dash from Ferrari.
I'm confused. Who said move to jersey. Florida is nice but it's not the gem of the states. Too many old people all going for the early bird. Lol. Now now. Let's not get serious. But one of the most beautiful towns to live in is in fact in jersey. Alpine New Jersey. So yes. Really. R
