Shift Linkage Pin

I don't remember any major problems with re-installing the pin (think the proper term is "spring pin", i.e. round cylinder with slit all the way down the long axis - someone on FCHAT corrected me on that before).
I do remember using a slack fitting bolt (something like M5) and nut initially while I tested all the gears, prior to re-fitting the spring pin. On final installation, the spring pin was tapped in with a punch and fairly heavy hammer. Seam to remember the axis of the hole and therefore hammer direction not being ideal with chassis cross member and engine block.

I cant see there should be any major issue. Check your gears first though with the temporary nut and bolt to make sure its not 180deg out. If the levers have slipped out, you may need to re-set them -take care, its easy to do! Is the joint seated longitudinally correctly, i.e. nothing stopping it sliding all the way down?

Excellent advice as always from Kevin and I will add that your universal joint is almost certainly out by 180 degrees. This is the case for me which is easily corrected by loosening the adjuster and spinning the joint.

 

I would not file the hole. If it worked before, why not now?
There is always a logical solution.

Dodging, to say the least! Fortunately it has spared the rest of the country.
We are 70 Miles away, and ash has fallen in our home, nothing much.

It is very unfortunate for the coffee growers in the zone, as those plantations are 'toast'
for at least two years

Worse, we have another 12 volcanoes, all interconnected, but that, is "Life under the Volcano". We always are attracted by dangerous locations...
