Ok who signed up for "Cannonball Run"?

Looks like fun, not like Gumball and them where it is a "rally" rather than an actual time race

 

This guy is totally insane for attempting to put a timed rally together. It's a whole new legal climate than it was in the 70s. He thinks his driver disclaimer will protect him, but he's nuts to believe this.

 

I've always wanted to do a Gumball / Players Run Rally, but this looks like real fun!

 

First of all it's not the Cannonball Run, it's called the Cannonball One, a lame attempt to capitalize not only on the movie, but on the legendary Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash that was the movie's basis. The race we ran was purely an outlaw race, no advertising for entrants, awarding of prize money or announcement of start date. The only prize was a trophy made from some tools that were welded together and the satisfaction of knowing we had done something very unique in the motoring world.

Perhaps the link to this ersatz "race" should have been posted in the "Crappy Replicas" thread in the General Automotive Discussion section.

 

No checkpoints. I would enter a motorcycle and hire a plane and pilot. Might even turn a profit.

so a "sovereign citizen" moonshiner is organizing a race, for which he holds himself not responsible, with an advertised starting time and place.

what could possibly go wrong?
