Here is an extra low pass in a remote area. Hopefully, not a re-post. Based on the big "3A" on the side, this looks like a Douglas C-47 Skytrain. If it is that plane, then the name on the nose would be "SKY KING" (hard to see in the video as it passes by). [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8kt2vDm3Mw]DC3 low and fast.MOV - YouTube[/ame]
Ron- Definitely a Gooney Bird. First airplane I ever flew in was a C-47 from Oslo, Norway to Wiesbaden, Gemany piloted by my father in 1959. Believe she was built in 1942. Last Gooney Bird I flew in was a DC-3 from Dallas to Roswell in 1965.
Hard to tell from that video, but it might be. Here's more information on that famous C-47. C-47 N5106X Here's a couple of pictures from off the web. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Confirmed, it is my college room mates plane. He has quite a hanger including a Staggerwing Beechcraft, a Lockheed coming out of a 1 year renovation. Here are some pictures from his FB page I know he does not mind me sharing. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=704428006247974&set=t.1109238767&type=1&theater
