Store sign appropriately captions this random cellphone pic snapped by my son on break from UCLA yesterday afternoon. An early production black LP500S rumbled down the hip section of Fairfax Avenue in the City of Angels, California-registered 6 LOV 468.

    Hey Joe,

What makes your son's pic even more appropriate is that parked in front of the store is another 'old schooler'...... an AMG 500 SEC, another eighties icon!

...you beat me to it! Some good eighties memories, in any case.

Joe, that pic your son took really impresses me with the difference in size between the Countach and modern cars. Everyone wants SUVs, suburbans, trucks and minivans, and manufacturers have obliged. Even the compact cars in front of the Countach, the Prius and Jetta, sit so much higher. The difference in scale is striking to me.

Looks great! and I know what you mean by the "popping"....that's probably my favorite part of driving it.

Wow! that's looks like a car i know very well... Black color is very hard to keep clean, but it's a great looking color on a Countach.

    Thanks for posting.

    ciao

First of all... Clarksons views on the countach imo ARE "on topic"
and secondly i will say to Joe, that your sons photo shows how the countach still
puts todays cars to shame and his timing was perfect. i would have been too
excited to quickly snap that photo. Are you familiar with this car Joe, or know the owner maybe?

Yes, the Countach world is rather small.

Driving a Countach in stop-and-go traffic (which I have unfortunately had to do too many times!) you are equally struck by the car's lowness with people looking down at you.

I would pick a countach over any modern lamborghini. Pretty much the same (Testarossa over all Ferrari (except F40) ) :)

So very true! I was on my way home from a car event last year and sitting at a stop light. I looked over and a gal was leaning out her passenger side window and asked me "How do see out of that thing?" LOL! I told her, "Hey its only what's in front that matters". heheehe....

You may want to rethink that. The 599 GTO is an exceptional 4RE. ;)

Ok, that may be a bit harsh. Still, eye of the beholder, etc. I admit, at a track day it is a weapon. Gave me motion sickness and a sore neck.

Rumor has it that the video was done by a producer that worked on Miami Vice...
someone else has claimed that he may have also owned the countach since it also appeared in several MV episodes. Who knows though?

It's okay not as special as a countach in my opinion.

There is 3 different Countach in miami vice series :
    Season 1 : lp400s s3 --> "golden episode triangle" season 1

season 2 : LP 5000S usa legal model and 5000 Qv euro spec in a "Bought And Paid For" episode . (The famous "magic countach scene" )

Did you mean to say there are two versions of a QV in this seen? One is a DD QV and the other is a US injected QV.
