I was just watching my kids play the Mario Kart Wii game (but its an old game so can get for just about any system) and it was very exciting with my daughter just pipping my son into second in the last milli-second thanks to a devious attack option.

IMO this is what this TV show version of F1 needs. Each driver needs to have n number of buttons that can deploy at any time that directly affects the driver or drivers in front, say as causing them to loose 50 hp for 20 seconds or something. The driver in front would have sudden beeping that would speed up as the attack got closer and if clever enough can swerve to miss it.

Would be a hoot and just as staged and ridiculous as Bernie's F1 has become. Of course to make this interactive our TV show will indicate who has pushed what button and we can laugh along with them. It would be very tactical and maybe if you pay enough you can control one button on your favourite drivers controls?, making it truly interactive.

    Thoughts?

A solution to the boredom of modern F1?: Ban all radio transmissions (apart from safety messages), and leave the drivers to figure out the races for themselves!

That way, the each race becomes a lottery as drivers will not know exactly where their rivals are or what they are doing. If their car develops a problem, such as a gearbox issue, they'll have to figure out for themselves how to get around it rather than having an engineer tell them to: "Short shift in gears X,X and X please to save the gearbox!".

They wont know that they're not really racing the car ahead of them due to different strategies, or that they can push for 5 laps only, or that they need to get out of the draught of the car ahead.

Ban the radio's and bring back an element of the unknown to races!

F1 definitely needs some help to create more drama. Maybe next years changes, namely the new engines...

I'm actually really looking forward to F1 this year, trying to think positive that all the changes will make it a lot more interesting.

Yeap. I'm sure they don't need people guiding them how to race and manage the car.

How about we free up regulations a bit, allow any form of naturally aspirated engine limited to 2.4L, keep the weight low at 600kg, tires wide and strong, and cap each team to spending say $200m.

Reverse grid from finishing position of previous race. Or for the purists that want qualifying assign a small time penalty, say 0.2 seconds per point scoring position for the next race. Last race winner gets 2.0 seconds tacked on, second gets 1.8 sec, and so on.

No DRS or mandatory tire changes. If a driver can nurse the car on hard tires the entire race, so be it. I hate that they have to use both compounds.

Only ferrous brakes to lengthen the passing zones and cut the overall speeds down a bit.

    That would do it.

Or 2 races. One Saturday, 45 min sprint, another on Sunday, with the finishing on Saturday determining the reverse grid on Sunday.

It might help the smaller teams to be in the spotlight, and even let the drivers of the smaller team showcase their defending tactics.

lol. Good to see somebody else with a sense of humor.

I already think Bernie has gone way too far at undermining the concept of motorsport. Thankfully we have interesting power plants this year.

I've always had a lot of great ideas. I also think I might design a car that's in the shape of a rabbit. It might poop out little real rabbits out the back that'll run around the track.

Professionals taking machines to the cutting edge really need turtle shells being fired at them....don't think the sport would continue attracting a high calibre of athlete.

    That's....brilliant.

Only thing is that Massa will drive the wrong way round constantly without Smedly (or his new engineer) telling him what to do...:(

All drivers must stop halfway through, shake hands with 10 fans, take a pic, drink an iced tea, run through an obstacle course, then finish the race of course

    Ya think!?......

I've read some pretty stupid posts here over the years, probably made a few myself, but this was a joke, right?

I mean, really, As Krafty noted, he's either lost the plot completely, or is smoking some stuff I'd love to try. ;)

    Cheers,
    Ian
