I was in the passenger side footwell compartment of my 328 last week and found that the interior light timer has come away from the tag that is used to secure it in position. It is being held by a cable-tie but I wondered if there might be a way to repair it, as a replacement is around £200.

    Any thoughts?

I agree t fix the mount if it still functions.

Can you trace it's unbroken "footprint" onto sheet metal and epoxy the whole thing on to it?

Without pictures it's hard to guess best method but that has been a good fix for our fender mounted vent fans, when the plastic tabs snap off

It should be possible to trace the footprint but I haven't taken it out yet. If so, then epoxy sounds like a good idea. I'll get some pictures next time I have a chance. (The car is in France and I'm in the UK at the moment.)

So you are just going to fix it by osmosis?

Nothing wrong with getting a few pointers and digesting them for a time before making the repair.

Actually I don't have a very useful internet service in France so I need to do the research in the UK, then the work in France.
