First in SoCal. Woot!
You'd have to have much more specific info right? I entered just city, state. Wouldn't that be kind of a needle in a haystack?
This is cool! But I messed up, I entered my details as "London" and it dumped the pointer at a location which appears to be opposite the Savoy Hotel in the Strand. I thought I would be able to fine tune it later but cant. Could my point be deleted and I will do it properly and save the editing code next time.
You get an edit URL after you've entered the data. It's of the form: https://www.zeemaps.com/edit/xxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxx If you missed or lost that, never mind, the Savoy's not such a bad address to have
Why? Just don't locate your address precisely. eg downtown Houston will do fine. How precise is entirely up to you. My icon isn't exact but within ~1/4 mile. If you're in an isolated spot, just be even more imprecise, eg within 5 or 10 miles.
Don't like it. Thieves are smart and know how to case a general area and pinpoint exact locations on their own. No thanks, where my ferrari is parked is nobody's business but my own. I'm frankly surprised more don't feel this way and are so willing to take part in this. My .02 Greg
Mine listed location is within 50 miles of my house that has probably 25+ Ferraris and Goodness knows how many Lambos in that same diameter radius.
I just entered the city I live in, not the exact place where I live. You do it in every post, where you state that your location is Houston, TX, USA. That's no better or worse than what I did on the map.
Just down the street from me... and another Euro to boot! Maybe we need a North County 308 meetup sometime!
Thanks for signing on- looks like we've got 80 or so "on the map" in just a few hours! It is interesting to see how far these Ferraris have scattered across the globe. This makes it easy to see who is in your general part of the world, or country. Also, I'm thinking it gives us a lifeline, so to speak, if you are on an extended trip and have trouble. You can log in, find somebody in your general area, shoot them a pm, and maybe get a helping hand. The BMW motorcycle owners have a directory for just such a purpose, works well, I've helped a couple riders over the years. If an FChat member has a breakdown or problem in this part of Virginia, I've got a truck and trailer, a nice garage for storage or repairs, a lift, tools, and/or a ride to the airport or rental car place. On the privacy/security topic, I have the basic map set up so street addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, etc. are not required or shown. Hopefully that will allay any fears that hoodlums will come to steal your pride and joy based on your general location. I can make this map private by requiring a key (password) to see the map or make an entry. Personally I don't think it is helpful or necessary, but I probably haven't thought of everything. Best to all, Jeff
When I enter my location is it possible to go back and edit it later - I am preparing for a cross country move. PDG
Gray When you enter you will get an address to go back and edit. You will have to write down or do screen shot Just put my location in Don
If you didn't save the link when you first posted, just let me know by pm and I can delete your old one as administrator, and you can post a new one for the new homestead. Thanks, Jeff
