    Hello, I could use some help. I am a ready to move into the Ferrari community with a possible purchase of my first Ferrari. Over the next week I am looking at 2 different Testarossa's (1989 & 1990) both with under 25,000 miles on them.

    I have been a muscle car collector and have owned some very high dollar, ultra rare American muscle, but never an exotic. In the American car market "numbers and dates" are a big part of the correctness of a car. Is there an engine/transmission VIN stamping and also casting dates to review on these cars. Also if so, where are they?

    Also, I am mechanically inclined with the ability to build engines, transmissions (automatic and manual) and differential's. Therefore the obvious problem I can spot, but is there any inherent common problems I should be on the lookout for?

    Without much personal experience with the Testarossa, I would like your input before making any moves.
