Yea, by far the most conservative interpretation of the rules. I do think it looks like the best so far because I'll take fish face over genitalia nose any day of the week, but as some have already said, "the prettiest car is the one that wins!" I also think the curved surface if the entire nose generates a Venturi effect that feeds down & around to the bottom of the car but not sure if the air would be as accelerated as the other phallus designs.
I think the rear of the car is even worse than the nose. Why all that black? What happened to our all red racers?
The difference between Ferrari and McLaren and the pullrod front suspension is that Ferrari took the difficult route and stuck with it, getting it to work. It took some time but they have mastered it and got it to do exactly what they wanted. McLaren on the other hand have taken the easy route and ditched it. They couldn't get it to work last year and it completely messed up the balance of their car causing them a massive headache so they've gone back to what they know works for them. As for the rest of the Ferrari design, as others have noted: You're assuming that this is the final version! My suspicion is that this is just a very basic version for the unveiling (that diffusers not going to work very well for a start off! ), and that the car that will run at the tests will be quite different. Still, this wouldn't be F-Chat if someone didn't write-off Ferrari's season before the cars even moved under its own power!
A couple videos... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQJUh4Ye-Iw]Motion timelapse stickering - YouTube[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sba3xaogof8]F14 T - Technical video - YouTube[/ame]
Usually the launch version is pretty conservative compared to the one which appears at the first race.
The technical video shows a pretty sizable monkey seat which appears to be for directing exhaust gases to the underside of the rear wing which is probably something everyone will be doing. Ferrari know what they're doing so I hope for their sake they have something clever they're hiding for the rear suspension and thermal vents as it appears Mclaren/Lotus already have. I'm fully expecting to see a giant rear a-arm suspension arm sometime during testing bolted to the Mclaren acting as a sort of beam wing. Ferrari just doesn't have proper mounting position for this as I'm seeing things. Mclaren have their rearmost upper member mounted very far back specifically for this purpose. Ferrari are Ferrari, so they probably have something hiding.
+1 and from the side these new machines are great. I dont see much of a real problem here at all. When the racing begins I doubt the looks will be the subject of conversation as a focus!!
I believe this car has a fork nose coming, the launch video showed a mold which may very well be for such a nose.
The first video reminds me of the lightbulb joke: how many Ferrari technicians does it take to put decals on their car?!
I was hoping Ferrari was going to lose the black accent paint scheme. Nope.... they broadened it. I'm canceling my LaFerrari order.... -) IMO the Mclaren blows this.
B3 was definitely a crude entry into the "ground effects" aerodynamic era, but it didn't bother me too much. That was truly the "Hooverarri" though. It was unapologetically a vacuum cleaner. As far as the c4 is concerned, it's that gigantic rear wing that I find so offensive. If they could have smoothed it out a little, it wouldn't have been so bad for me. Granted, with the "torquey" nature of the turbos by that point, they probably needed an anvil on the back to keep the wheel spin under control. As you say, "different strokes" and all...
Well, compared to 3 monsters, I'm not sure it's a compliment! Damned, what's going on this year with those F1 noses? There's no beautiful car with an ugly nose, it simply doesn't exist, just like our other passion: Image Unavailable, Please Login
True. It makes me not want to look at the car at all.... and if I'm not seeing the car I'm not seeing the nose. Well played Ferrari... well played.
First official tweet pic of W05 showing the engine cover. Glad they added some black back to the mix. Retweet to 1000 and they show more.
I wish, it's fake. They just posted another teaser or their front suspension though. The a arm and steering arm are almost integrated. Neat.
undoubtedly asymmetrical sidepods on the Mclaren. Even the undercuts look asymmetrical Image Unavailable, Please Login
I see we have our newest troll. Car looks awesome! Love the black accents, looks mean. Best of all, no phallic nose! FORZA FERRARI
