I don't want to undermine their efforts, but does anyone else see this as a "only do what you HAVE TO do" repair?

I have had three of these things available for sale with no takers. Nobody wants them. They all want 1987 and down cars. I sold a 15k example for 100k even not to long ago and it was a very hard sell. Why? I like them, but obviously the majority don't. It's the best of the bunch for sure, but try to sell one and reality hits very hard. Wholesale you would be silly to pay anything more then 90k.

That restoration, is not a restoration. It's a good cleaning more then anything.

    Absolutely not.
I have sold two in the past year or so and they were far more than that.
If you come across one for 100 and it's a good car - call me - you have a sale.

Why is a good question. Most cars you stay away from the first model year. The Countach is funny...it seems the worse it is the more its worth. I don't mean 'worse' in horrible way for those who get all wound up.lol.
I had many sleepless nights before deciding on a 25th. I have no intention of selling anytime soon so its not an issue for me. I felt ( for me ) the comfort of having the most reliable 'as possible' Countach was the way to go. My 25th has been super reliable. With the FI it is very easy to check and adjust if needed.
Maybe contact Joe S. he has had much better luck selling. Roy is another great option.
Ok Joe and Roy, I made sure I didn't put both of you in the same sentence.LOL.(oops I just did)

This is absolutely absurd!!! Joe Sackey sold his Anni for $210k. There is another USA fuelie with over 8,000 miles up for $225,000 in Arizona by Canepa. Too many examples to list
Have you been asleep for the past year????

I know of 3 86 downdraft cars sitting around doing nothing, and another 81 lp500s sitting doing nothing. I have 150k offers for these cars if I can pry them away from the owners. I mention the 25th cars and the answer is a hard NO. Don't want it. Never will. I have stopped offering them for sale , as have the owners. They have become a sit and wait car. Almost a last resort into the countach world. I can get more for a diablo at this point then a 25th countach!! How does that make sense?

I'm not very good at selling things I don't like either... 150k for a DD? Man welcome to the 2010's... Or earlier.
If be happy to workout a deal with you on those cars?

225 huh...what will the real selling price be..if it even sells. Joe probably paid 100k for the car and soaked somebody into 210. I'm sorry, but seeing myself where the market is on the inside..you know what theses things truly trade for.

Joe I feel started this thread to bump the values on these cars. Not because he is nuts for them. They are the best of the run, that cannot be disputed. But not to many people would buy one over a similarly priced 87 and down car.

Sorry to be crass, but it's my feeling. I'm sure he had 2 or three available for sale and was trying to maximize his return when he started the thread.

You have to understand. These cars have not turned a wheel in close to 10 years at the latest. One has top-end damage, and a blowen clutch+ it needs bodywork, a can of paint fell on the right front fender.

The lp500 has not been started in 13 years. Who knows if it will even turn over..

Yes Joe has been very open on how he feels about the 25th, helping its value along, and his creative marketing of his car. It's all here somewhere. It is quite creative imo.

Oh - you didn't mention this when you suggested such rediculously low prices for these cars.
Again if you have good cars at those prices call me.
Otherwise some could read that such lowball suggestions are only to serve a future purchase - somewhat akin to what some say Joe has done to inflate prices. Which I think is incorrect IMO...

And all the best to him.

The 25th I had available was for sale for 6 YEARS!!! at 125k zero takers. NONE. 100k bought it with a heavy heart just last year infact not even 3 months ago.

The calls I did have were people looking for earlier cars. I asked why, and they all said the same thing, they didn't like the bodywork. That can't be just them. It seems to be almost universal.

I sold 2 last year one 25th and one 87. All under 100k. They needed some work mind you, but that is all the money I could get. These 100k profit cars are a pipe dream at the moment. Hell, a friend of mine sold a 500s for 65k in 2011. Nobody wanted it. He had the car in inventory for over 5 years.

Obviously the market has changed dramatically in the last year. I'm going to start prying even harder for these cars I know about. But will the buyers be there?

If these examples can't be pried from the owners with their conditions, what do the owners feel they should get? Have they given a ballpark that they would entertain? Just curious.

Wow, how do you find so many Countachs forsale?

As far as buyers, probably not in that condition(imo) thats why Joe and Roy invest big bucks into their cars and sell fine examples which get top dollar.

I have and another fellow also. He walked in with 120k cash and the guy turned him down. He also has a jalpa in boxes and a 308 in boxes. Trouble with this fellow,he is a hoarder. Apparently you can't even walk into his house without turning sideways.

The 2nd one is owned by 2 brothers. They would soon enough kill each other then sell the car. Quite the story behined that one. But as of late there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. They are willing to talk, although not to each other.

The owner of the 500 is just plain odd. Tons of money but seemly bipolar to an extreme. One day he wants to sell, the next he want the moon for the thing.

I'm beginning to wonder if countach owners are just a weird bunch!!
