    Jim,

Based on my experience with many Miuras, I would rate their brakes overall as poor, and I have driven enough Miuras to know that this can be a generalized statement and not a reference to one single under-performing or poorly fettled car. Yes, poor, even against cars of their similar vintage, which I have lots of experience with also. When I characterize their brakes as being poor, naturally I am saying so in relation to the awesome speeds which the car is capable of, but I am also saying so in relation to just driving a motor car around town and in traffic. Those small Girlings just don't seem up to the task of stopping the car in the manner that other 60s & 70s classics seem to be able to do.

Having said all that, as Speedy2 suggests, one can still enjoy a Miura if you plan your braking ahead, and keep a sensible distance between yourself and the car ahead of you.

I have never looked into upgrading a Miuras brakes, but with all 5 Miuras I owned, we gave the brakes attention to ensure optimum stopping power, and still, my comments above would hold true.

The interior is dark blue: seats, dash, door panels, everything except the steering wheel's rim which is the traditional black leather.

I can't find a pic of 5080's interior handy, so here is the interior of the other Azzuro Cielo SV (RHD 4814) with the same dark blue interior which you can use as a reference. Note 4814 has a blue leather steering wheel rim. Hope this helps!

I wasn't quite sure how to respond to Jims comments/questions regarding my post on Miura brakes. It was not my intention to sidetrack the previous threads on Miura suspensions. I do not know how most Miuras react under braking. Just my own. I've learned in my 10 year ownership what it takes to stop this car in normal traffic and what it takes to slow it down from speed (let's say approaching triple digits). It takes some planning. I don't do it often as I can't afford to replace the car. Hell, Just wacking the front bonnet could cost 50 grand or more. I respect the vehicle for what it is and what it is not capable of. Jim asked what I was comparing it to and the answer is nothing. I will tell you however that I own a S1 E type that I've had for a long time. Drive it quite a bit. The brakes are about 1/3 the size of the miuras and vacuum assist. The car will out brake the miura with confidence. Just a different car. We'll now return to your regular programming......Reguards, Blake

These cars are so rare that most people who comment on them have singular experience limited to just one car and its particular handling.

I hope & think my comments were both realistic and helpful, because having been in the unique position to test a real cross-section of cars, I have a good basis for conclusion.

That said, by applying the notion of reasonable expectations, I actually enjoy the experience of driving a 40-year-old car and planning braking!

Well I guess my experiences are different than yours. I find the brakes very comparable to a series I E-type (I have driven many of those) (ride and handling to for that matter too). I drove my Miura to a car show last month and during the show I test drove a 1967 E-type. Under normal diving conditions I did not notice any difference in the braking. I did not test any extreme driving conditions. I plan the braking in my Miura exactly the same as I plan the braking in my 2006 Honda Pilot or any of the E-types I have driven. I do suspect my Miura has the original brake pads in it, they make a lot of dust. I wonder if the brake pads are contributing to our differences of opinion/experience.

    Cheers Jim

I'm not sure what they were asking, but, there is a simple reason that any car that sits around for a considerable period unsold despite being advertised - price asked is more than current market is willing to pay, for now.

Joe - could you tell me the chassis number of the black SV featured on p118-121? And is that the car's interior on p116? I've deduced that it isn't 5110. Thanks.

let's just say that particular concern has a well established track record when it comes to car pricing (or maybe that should be overpricing)

...interesting they say it's one of 7 RHD Miura SVs. There were 7 RHD cars supplied to the UK, but isn't this one of the 2 more RHDs supplied the Australia? If you have a million dollar car for sale, surely you would be accurate on this type of detail. Joe certainly would if he had it for sale!

That looks like the Miura that did not sell at auction in Monterey last year... I was surprised it did not sell, needs some TLC, but would be a great car to start with!

Part number information for Miura tires that the factory had Pirelli remake... to my knowledge, Lamborghini is the only place that has these.

There were actually 9 original RHD SVs. 5036 is not one of them and was originally LHD and converted to RHD, allegedly by the factory along with another SV converted from LHD to RHD.
