.6" probably matters greatly to those who might be compensating for something by buying all these supercars. ;)

the bug is an amazing car. much under-appreciated by internet car guys.
    918 weighs 1/2way between a p1 and a bug, right?

McLaren has not publically proven that P1 did a Ring lap under 7. Porsche has. That is fact.

McLaren's Ring Boasts and PR have been a disaster. That is (my) opinion.

I have the details for two out of the three so far. Not holding out much hope of filling the card either.

Porsche engineers have told many people they will go back to improve on their time with an updated car - you know, to pad their lead. Hehe...

LaFerrari: unknown and likely will remain so for quite some time.

918: current 887hp Weissach pack, 6min 57sec. Rumored to have done it in 6:46-ish with race tires. Final spec customer cars said to pack 900+hp, plus even greater performance from the e-system motors and battery= est sub 6:50 in delivery spec. the car will receive updates and upgrades through its lifecycle.

P1: Mac claims a 'sub-seven' time. but, a time that was confirmed in an unconfirmed sort of manner is 7:04

Its not a lead when the other sides don't/can't do what you have done.

Mclaren would have to post an actual time to compete. Maybe they have spent the last few months trying to get their car able to do it.

how much does a Veyron weigh? 4200lbs? 918 in Weissach spec tips right around 3650lbs. P1 weighs approx. 3300lbs? only 'weigh' to know for sure is to put the new hypercars on the scales.

yep, yep, and yep. waaaay back in the day--before a wheel had even been turned, Mac stood atop Everest, screamed at the top of its lungs so the whole world would hear: "the car will be, by far, faster than anything out there" "it will be the most exciting driving experience on the road AND the race track".

Assuming its accuracy, the 11 second gap between the slick tires time and the street tires time is probably one of the more telling aspects of Porsche's achievement in the 918. And not that 11 seconds over 12 miles is a lot of time--rather, that it isn't very much time at all.

The 918, on street tires, is probably only 3-4 seconds slower on a 4-5 mile course than a 918 with racing tires. That's pretty impressive (to me).

just got back from a nice couple hour drive in the F40 and was thinking about ride height (did not behead any squirrels btw).

the 918 has a very nice ride height so can be enjoyed anywhere. probably could go off roading without any problem.

the P1 in race mode is only 2.6" and could possibly destroy itself on a street road. fortunately the suspension is adjustable so you normally drive in sport mode which gives you more ground clearance. however you wont get 1800lbs of downforce while in school zones and in the starbucks drive-through

the Laf has no adjustable suspension. the lift doesn't count because it doesn't work at speed. Is it not a few mm lower than the P1? And certainly a much longer overhang.

So if the P1 can't be used in race mode on the street because its too low, where does that leave the LaF? just a thought

My buddy that works in the factory called me and confirmed that LaFerrari lapped the Ring in 6:21. So now you have three times, right?

What was the clearance on the Enzo? I remember both CGT and Enzo(less so because of the lift feature) having clearance issues on the road, but they both ran the ring quite quickly for the time.

I was being sarcastic asking about ring times - the horse is not beaten, it's practically glue at this point.

I see from the pics JC drove it in the rain.

I drove it in hard rain in race mode. While I assure you its possible, I don't think you would ever want to.

In 4th gear, at speeds well over 100 MPH, it spins the tires easily. its a bit frightening. ipas not recommended.

will be interesting to see the show considering the weather conditions.
