Montauk Manor would be a great destination. I originally proposed Montauk Yacht club but I think the Manor would be more scenic. So if it's available for May 3 with rooms as an option for those who wish to stay over, that would be great.
I'm in favor of two events. I think the members here would love to have two rallies as well. Let me see if the FCA coordinator got in touch with the MYC yet and if it has gone anywhere. If not, I will propose the MM and see what they think.

If I remember correctly, the only problem with Montauk Manor is that to get on the lawn in the back, there was a large curb, and many cars were bottoming out!!
I didn't have my car there that day, but I was cringing as the cars were coming in, and hitting bottom. They had a plank set up, but it wasn't enough.

The entrance to the lawn has a cut out. No curb.

Maybe I didn't word it correctly.... I remember a large curb, that was cut out, and the cars were still hitting.
Maybe they weren't approaching it at a proper angle and tried to go in straight on? Or possibly the cars I watched were very low (360 C. S.)?
I'm not sure, it's just that I do remember them hitting. I only saw them exiting, maybe coming in was fine, but exiting may have been fine if they backed it and cut the wheel, instead of exiting nose first. I'm not sure, I didn't even own the car back then.

There was an ugly crunch when I drove the 355 onto the grass. I clipped the curb going in at a steep angle. Mainly my fault. Turned out to be just a scuff that was invisible unless you looked on the underside of the body. Leaving - no problem. Of course I was very careful after the crunch. I think a couple of boards/ramps would solve the issue.

Plenty. Montauk Yacht Club, Montuak Manor or Gurney's Inn. You can Google them for more info. Plenty of safe parking at both places. There are many other oceanfront hotels that aren't as nice and parking is not always the best. Still not sure if this will be an FCA event or our own. Either way it will happen weather permitting! Really looking forward to this. I have many people who PM'd me and lots of interest on this thread as well. We should have a good turnout.

Now lets get past all this global warming that I keep shoveling off my driveway and bring on the Spring!!

I've stayed out there many times. The nicest hotels are at the level of a decent Comfort Inn. Maybe 2 stars. There is nothing luxurious (at least not for the general public).

Montauk Manor is nice, and check out this franchise.

East Hampton Hotel | Hotels in the Hamptons | Dune Resorts

    I've stayed at:
    Hermitage
    East Hampton House
    Beachcomber
    Seacrest
    Surf Club.

All OK, but don't expect the Plaza.

As I said, let me know if you want to do anything with Montauk Manor..or Pindar. Though Montauk Manor is a better choice.

Yep Montaulk is not know for 4-5 star hotels. There is a B&B (Mill House) in East Hampton which is okay and I'm with Sam on the other hotels,

I've stayed in the East Hampton House many times, always during Thanksgiving when the family would gettogether at it my parents house in EH and my wife and I just wanted to be in a separate place. It's interesting in regards to their rooms are not all the same, each has somewhat of a theme, harlequin room, ect. It's clean, but 2 stars is probably it.

I also think Montauk Manor would be a better choice. I'm not hearing back from the FCA so I think either way we should forge on with plans for this rally. I still think maybe we should stop first at The Lobster Roll for a quick bite or maybe Duck Walk Vineyards for some wine tasting on the way out there. Sam if you could inquire about a May 3rd date and rates for rooms for those who want to stay there overnight, that would be great. As of now there is at least 10 of us. Hopefully, if word gets out, this thing could be HUGE!

Not to upset you, but HUGE is exactly what my friends and I don't want. Been there, done that. Small intimate runs are much more fun, especially out to the east end. If you are interested in just meeting up with some car enthusiasts, going for a fun drive to the east end on a Sunday morning, let me know. I personally like drives which come together quickly and you have a good idea of what the weather will be like.

Sam was doing ROEs for many years and these were fantastic. You drive to a beautiful location, spend hours with people, eat some really good food and hand out awards - it's all day and has a purpose. The major problem with these huge planned events is you are completely at the mercy of the weather when it's bad or iffy people don't show up, you get people who just behave like idiots on the road and it's extremely hard to all keep together in large groups.

I understand where you're coming from. I'm torn between the two. I like intimate runs and I also enjoy the "ROE" or "Hampton's Rally" types as well. So for this one, I really don't care. It would be nice though if more than just a few of us showed up. And of course it's all weather permitting. My Fcar does not go out in the rain! I also would like to keep this one a Ferrari only rally. How does everyone else feel?

It can be a hybrid. It need not be opened up to everyone. Just those responding here. And if there is no catering involved, and no prepayment, etc, it can be called off if it rains with no fuss. Lastly, for the last several years, when I organized the ROE, I did not specify the actual "Run" part. Smaller groups organized their own. Thus you could pick and choose who you drove out with.
I'll be happy to contact Montauk Manor and let them know it would just be a gathering spot with no lunch or agenda. You all let me know what the consenus is on what you want.
    Thanks

My only real concerns are good weather and safe parking, that's it!

I'm game for anything out east as long as I'm available. I don't care how many or how few or even the type of cars as long as they are car enthusiasts. (I do have a very slight preference to only Ferrari though...just because it's cool to see a sea of Ferraris, no big deal though)
