No personal shots intended, sorry if it came across like that. 12C's Ring time has nothing to do with what I'm talking about, that's like comparing go karts to stock cars for instance. The times these hypercars can do are in a different league, a league where the limits are much higher and the edge is much finer. Simply because Mr Dennis stated that his P1 will be the fastest, you seem to be upset. The fact that they haven't therefore revealed a Ring time yet seems to put so many people's noses out of joint. Hasn't Ferrari also claimed dramatic performance times at Geneva without any hard copy proof? They all do it. The day of reckoning will come when all three meet up at the same corral for a shoot-em-up. Let's look forward to crowning The Champ.
SOOOO, ron dennis, one of the most successful motorsport entrepreneurs in history who began in F1 as a mechanic in the '60's and is now worth over $100million and who has been to the 'ring a hundred times, with a hundred different cars and drives, forgot that it was bumpy? if this is true, it is indeed a collosal blunder I for one, find it IMPOSSIBLE to be true on the basis of my above posted facts. you are all too impatient. these companies work on their own time frame. the key word is "YET" there is no time posted YET. NAPOLIS knows bumps, RON DENNIS doesn't; now that's a laugh my a$$ off if i ever heard one ;-)) (no offense intended to NAPOLIS! i mean to offend only the haters)
It takes two seconds to find Ron Dennis ring time boasts. I've still yet to see evidence of Ferrari's ring time claim. The ring clearly isn't much of a marketing priority to Ferrari. To have Ron Dennis stand on stage and make the claims like he did demonstrates just how seriously his company took the ring with regard to marketing. Porsche were very public with their ring claims/times. Mclaren have been very public with their expectations and claims, Ferrari seem to have little interest, hence the lack of hysteria.
F1 still does run at the Ring on the GP course and The Ring GP course has a full FIA F1 rating. Much serious racing is done at The Ring on the GP course and on The NS and on the combined GP/NS. The NS has full FIA rating for about a 6:30 lap. (GP+NS GT FIA rating of about 8:00 for GT)

...but I thought it was irresponsible to post times at that crazy death trap? I don't think the phrase 'playing for time' has ever been more apt. I hope for their sake they have spent the time wisely getting the car ready to actually go sub 7.00
its also irresponsible to build 900hp cars.....the car is way below 7minutes, but like i've posted before, i dont even think thats impressive. it's easy.
i've posted some deductive evidence which has yet to be refuted, but obviously i have no hard knowledge, and so YES, i qualify my statement as, "In My Opinion", the p1 is easy, breezy under 7 minutes at the NS!!!!!
Having VERY decisively beaten EVERY McLaren we raced at The Ring speaks for itself. I agree on paper P1 should have been a Ring Monster. The P1 BTG time of 7:04 clearly shows that they have issues on The Ring. We raced at 4.5 inches. We came to that ride height after a lot of testing. We designed our suspension to work at 4.5 inches. We did pretty well for a small private team and better than many Factory backed teams. We stomped the McLarens. If P1 could run the Ring at 2.6 it would be around 6:42 IMO but I still do not believe it can. You tell me. They went to The Ring. They clearly said they would be King. They got a time. They were set up release it (EVO) but they didn't. I personally don't think if they set a record they would hold that fact back. I still don't understand why they don't go to a smooth GP track and set a fantastic time at 2.6 inches as I believe they could asap. Do you? Mike?
Well said, time will tell. I cannot believe they didnt understand the track surface before they spoke about performance. a view from the best, just for fun: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lqt8TioEDc]Onboard Nürburgring Nordschleife - Porsche 911 GT3 Cup - YouTube[/ame]
Your P1 will be a fantastic car to own and around MMC should work really well. What color are you getting? I really like the black almost purple.
I would agree with you on this except McLaren said NEVER. As in 'We will never release a ring time'. It makes no difference to me I'm just agreeing that it was a bad PR move. Doesn't take away from the fact P1 is a spectacular car It was at the F150 private showing in Maranello. Unless you were there you wouldn't have seen it. It was never official and that claim has since disappeared.
I havent decided on color yet, i love that black/purple too but not sure about it in open sunlight, might be too purple. i'd like to see it in person when i go over to the factory btw, do you know what Cup cars do around the NS?
They have a huge cup car (200 cars) race just before the 24. As I remember it was a two hour sprint. They are very good on the Ring but not as fast as the 24 Hour cars. My guess is about 7 for the NS vs 6:30 for the top 2114 24 hour cars. Remember weather plays a big role at the Ring so a race time can be very fast in weather but seem slow compared to dry "ring times".
At this point I build my own. My daily is an Alfa 8C. With my collection cars and my modern racing I'm pretty busy driving what I already have. I don't want to own cars I don't have the time to use. Having one Hybrid Race/Street already (P 4/5 CM) which I enjoy driving around I'd probably pass on all of these and wait for the not Hybrid 918 which I think is in the works if I was looking for a new adventure. get LaFerrari and we can exercise it up at MMC whenver you want, and also, about that photo, what are you doing in the right lane?!?
