Owner has sold the 550 for an RS so better grab it asap. One of the better one out there especially with the handling pack & precious Barchetta wheels.

I've just picked up a car from JT as well but wife doesn't like the idea of V12 two seater so you lucky guys have fun!

Hi guys. Im looking to become one of Ferrari owner. But I need help from fellow Malaysian owner on Ferrari ownership. I was looking into cars upgrade and decided into this 3 cars.

    1. 360 Modena
    2. Audi R8 V8
    3. R35 GT-R

If I can I really want a Ferrari. So I have few question. I hope Malaysian Ferrari owner can answer my question.

    1. I read quite extensively regarding the reliability and 360 Modena is one of them. But I want to do a PPI before pulling the trigger. If this possible in Malaysia? Recommended person/place to do it?

    2. Other than Naza Italia, is there other workshop that can and have an experience wrenching a Ferrari?

    3. Cam variator, if I need to do it how much I need to spend?

    4. Clutch job, how much?

    5. Timing belt change, how much?

    6. How's the F1 reliability? On R8, the gear actuator can be stupidly expensive if dead. GT-R however a lot of workshop can rebuilt it and make it a lot more reliable for an ok price. So this can be a deal breaker for me.

Any other thing I need to look into? I hope fellow Malaysian owner can answer my load of question. And maybe a ride... And if I posted this in wrong section, sorry. Noob posting

There's a lot of tuner shops in bandar sunway, PJS 7 area where i always see Bentleys, Audis, Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, Jaguar E type, and GTRs always being tuned/repaired.

What Remy said & pick up a copy of Autotrader to check out the advertisers but beware of cowboy shops! I've been using Exquisite Marques for years & they didn't turn out to be the best but at least it's a place I know that my car won't go missing.

If maintenance is an issue then it's better to stick to the GTR but make sure that you get a good eg. as people seems to enjoy trashing it. It's also the fastest of the lot & sits extra back there.

360 is an old horse so do expect to spend more on upkeeping. The bushes, shocks, bearings, seals, aircon & many others will bite you. Just budget US$3K for each of the job you mentioned.

thanks remy and sfchallenge... but seems you guys dont really answer my question... i just want a proper answer for my noob question. like the r8 guys and gtr guys do. maybe in my budget, maybe not, thats why i want a proper answer... please dont be like another "enthusiast" forum who always answer if need to ask you cant own it... thats why i ask here, from the owner self... and i not worried about extra seat. i got other car for that. this going to be weekly.

if u ask me i will go for 360 modena...why?...because to me ferrari is ferrari and u can't compare it to other make....man..life is too short..just get yourself whatever u want as long as u can afford to maintain it...car price would be cheaper but the maintainance would be high in future...just my 2 cent...:)

Dude. It's precisely I've owned 6 Ferraris that I advised you to prepare US$3K per job because maintenance on old Ferraris can bite you while a new one will save you with warranty but the depreciation empties some zeros along the way as well. Then we have another problem of old cars especially exotics in Malaysia where records are sometimes dodgey, chop-shops that fuse write-offs along the way & bribe authorities to approve them again.

After that we also have to worry about tyres which are usually 5 figures on ours (many locals drive to Singapore for cheaper prices) & insurance not to mention road tax. For the wealthy guys here? It's common to have full spec cars with after-market exhaust costing Rm30K & bodykit over 50K.

Either old or new, we pay dearly for one & why do we still want a Ferrari?

Well. I'll leave it to you guys to answer for that :)

I've not owned an R8 or GTR either so can't comment but you can find plenty feedbacks these days. The extra seats on the GTR is nice when you have company or kids but if they're useless to you then you're down to two cars to choose from & even then the R8 being newer will be my choice as the technology & chassis is far ahead of 360 which is a late 90s technology. That's why you're worried about the chain tensioner update etc.

The old saying is buy the latest that you can afford. I would recommend F430 as it's a far better car for a little more. Easier on loan, parts, service & insurance as well.

For me, I'm collecting classics now & done enough of fast cars with close shaves to death.

hmm. if 3k usd around rm10k. thats includes f1 pump failure? clutch? and bout the r8 4.2L roadtax is expensive, not to mention rm20k for new r-tronic gear actuator. eventough so far most owner say other than that its an "oil car". no worries other than wear and tear.

and thanks for staying with noob like me. yeah if i wanna go for f430 i already have as so far from owner post its the most reliable ferrari. but not rich enough :)
