I'm well aware of the situation in the UK for this car. But being in the US, my comments were made regarding this market. Not too familiar with the Canadian market or if the other poster got his car there or imported it. I believe there are some import duties in Canada so not sure exactly how that affects the resale market there if at all.

The last point you make is interesting. The "type" of owner is now transitioning from one type to another. Namely, from the type of owner who wants the newest "hardcore" model to those who are buying these cars to keep. The first type of owner probably only keeps cars for a few years until the next special model comes out while the second is buying the car to keep.

Are there 499 people in the world who want a 16M in their collection? In a few years there may be that many in China alone!!

Did you look at this car? It's asking price is $219k with 7k miles and its red.

Based on your comment, it must have damage? Or are there cars that will sell at or below $219k without damage?

These cars are getting interesting to me at these price points...

This car was listed at 239k just last month at that dealer. I have seen cars that have been sitting on dealers lots drop between 10-20 K in just the past month and a half. To be clear, these are US cars with clear histories. It just seems like the demand isn't as strong at the prices people were asking.

That number has been published a few times. Unfortunately can't link because it is on another forum. Where did you get that number over 200? I think that 228 number in the US has been sufficiently discounted to take it with a massive grain of salt. Further check out this link: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/360-430/253301-reliable-source-information-scuderia-16m-production-numbers-u-s.html

If it is true that 250 scuds sold in 2008 and it is also true, as per the claim above, that 228 16Ms were sold in the US, then why do we see so many scuds for sale and so few 16Ms? 228 number, again, does not seem to hold water to me. In fact, I cound over 13 2008 scuds (over 25 total scuds) for sale on autotrader at this moment and only 6 16Ms for sale. That last point is not conclusive, but I think most would agree there has typically been about 100-150% as many 2008 scuds for sale compared to 2009 16Ms. Again, not consistent with the 228 number.

Even if you believe Ferrari "cheats" and overproduces the logic that the cars were overproduced by a large margin does not hold. It is just not realistic that they would be able to overproduce at a level even higher than historical "limited" cars at a time when demand was at a pronounced low. Just does not hold water that Ferrari would be able to sell an unprecedented amount of cars during the crisis of 2008--with the world economies in crisis mode.

The 228 number sounds like the pre-crisis reality number to me...Again, in this case "history" of the other limited cars is not really a great guide when you are talking about an unprecedented global market change in 2008. Another way to put it--hard to be consistent with the "statistics logic" when you have a 15 standard deviation event...Namely, on average, the world economy does not blow up--but that is what happened in 2008 when people were placing orders.

In the end, I am afraid to say, it sounds like wishful thinking by a prospective buyer ;)

I think this idea that "16Ms are selling for 205" is definitely more than debatable. At best one may have sold there..In any case, optimistically, I think you will have a pretty tough finding a 16M selling for 205 unless you get extremely lucky with the timing--trust me I have been looking very recently myself. I would have bought a 205 car with reasonable miles and no history in a heartbeat. However, you never know, maybe you can find someone selling because they are in a pinch...has been known to happen. You are probably a bit too low for Scuds too unless you can stretch it a bit. Challenge Stradales, however, are going for 130-160 and are great cars.

There is one with 8K miles listed at 169--that is the cheapest I could find..maybe he has a little room..although if he has too much be careful!

I know you were debating getting a 360CS a while back. My guess is prices have gone up since then--but may not be such a bad signal to buy...I know there are much fewer on the market now..

That is actually incorrect. That dealer has two almost identical 16Ms. They are out of Chicago and you can see both listings on ebay right now (different VINS/MIles) I did not actually look at the cheaper one myself--but from what I hear--I would do a car fax on it and a thorough inspection before you make an offer.

I did see that car--although not in person. That dealer, out of Chicago, actually has two listed that are almost identical. You can see both listings on ebay right now. I was told by someone to shy away from the 219 car--although I did not look at it myself. I did'nt want a red car. It is interesting, most the cars on the market seem to be red..Can't decide if that is necessarily bad for pricing as apparently many more people want red--although most I know don't...anyway that debate is a whole other can of worms. If you like red you have some choice!

+1; If I was not happily married to my F430 Sider, I would seriously consider a 16M at the $210k price point. What do I need the money for anyway? ...oh yeah, the mortgage, women, and booze.

Curious to see if anyone is shopping for a 16M these days.

Did a cursory check on eBay and there are 5 FS. There were 3 white ones on eBay about a month ago, but now only one. Did the other 2 sell?

    5 are:

    Rosso Corsa, 7400 miles, $209k
    White, 4400 miles, $252k
    Matt Grey, 3800 miles, $259k
    TDF Blue, 2200 miles, $239k
    Rosso Mugello, 730 miles, $269k

The Rosso Corsa seems priced a bit low compared to the others. I wonder if it has a history. It is being sold by Bentley Gold Coast.

    Some interesting colors out there.

I'm still looking for a 16M, but I have a very specific spec I'm after and I'm in no hurry to buy as the prices are stable or slightly dropping according to my spreadsheet. I have seen a couple cars move from Indies to Official Ferrari dealers go up in asking price. Mileage is the biggest driver in price. Generally speaking, less than 5K miles = >$250K

I just bought my 16M in Carlsbad, California, and will have it shipped east to its new home near Watkins Glen in the spring. Absolutely no comparison between a 430 Spider and a 16M. Completely different cars. Lighter, quicker, vastly better brakes, and a true collector car for the future. I am not too concerned about resale value because I have no intention of selling it.

Congratulations, the 16M at Cavallo was an exceptionally nice, low miles one and highly optioned.

Ebay is one place to look and your search will pick up many from the Non-dealers too.
Ferrari Owner's website allows you to search all dealers and over the holidays they had 13, today only 11 of the 16Ms for sale.
The Rosso Corsa at Bentley has been sitting for over 6 months with two declines in price, starting at $229k but suffers from the "over 5,000 mile" number stated above by Timba. No other knowledge on condition but independents do seem to have better pricing, dealers needing to cover their overhead which all factors in on their pricing.
