206 front indicator seals - advice please?

Hi,

My 206 is close to completing it's resto and my chap has told me he can't make the rubber front indicator seals (bought from Superformance) fit. There were none on the amber lenses when I bought the car, but I've obviously put the correct white lenses on now, and also purchased these white rubber seals at the same time. Any tips or advice?

Also, since the car will never be driven at night or (hopefully!) in wet weather, are the seals really necessary?? When I tried to put them on to see what they looked like, the seals looked awful!

My late UK '73 was also missing the seals when I bought the car. I purchased similar seals from superformance. I spent hours trying to fit with no success. I reinstalled the lights without the seals.

To be honest I think it's probably better without the seals, which would otherwise act as only a partial seal and likely trap moisture.

Superformance seal are too thick to use

 

The seals I purchased from Ferrari UK a few years ago were difficult to fit as well.

They take a long time to get right and patience is needed by the bucketful. Its almost a two handed job made easier with the grille out.

Like everything in this world that's is tight, you need some lubrication!!

I used dinitrol wax, it makes the rubber slippery and form a barrier against moisture build up.

Thanks for the advice, guys. My 206 will NOT be sporting these daft bits of rubber! If anyone wants them for free, just pm me and send a stamped/addressed envelope - they're yours!

Strange, I've never had a problem getting them to fit and they are on all of my cars. You can possibly just make them out on these two photo's of mine. My bodyshop also fitted them without issue to the Blu Sera car.

all 3 of your cars have an almost perfect fit, the seal that Ferrar UK sells is much thicker than the original and it can sometimes be difficult to get them to fit, depending on vehicle

 

I envy you fellows with the Euro indicators.

Iain, Where did you get the seals for your 246s? They're obviously thinner than the rubber on the rubbish I bought.

I get them from Superformance who in turn source them from Cicognani I believe. My bodyshop always offer up the lights and seals etc as part of the body shaping work in the metal work stage so that they can check everything aligns correctly before starting the painting stage of the process. They have never told me of any problems with the fit of these seals whereas they have with other seals on the car that I have subsequently had to change. I'm not aware of any special method required to fit them but will check.
