I think with this car I would take it to Cavallino, and this would be smashing www.fca2014.or as the Testa Rossa and Testrossa are being honored. Get the highest awards, and then sell it or take it to RM or Gooding.

Ferrari Club of America 2014 Annual Meet
The 2014 Ferrari Club of America International Annual Meet will be a memorable event, taking us to the Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, VA and the Summit Point Race Track for an elegant and exciting celebration. The Meet includes the internationally recognized FCA Concours d'Elegance held at nearby Creighton Farms Country Club in Aldie, VA, a road rally through the beautifil Northern Virginia Hunt Country, three days of racetrack activities, a vendor market (Mercato di Ferrari), seminars, receptions, charity auction and banquet with award presentations.

The theme for this year's Meet is "Celebrating The Redheads" where we pay special tribute to the two eras of the Testa Rossa and Testarossa cars made by Ferrari. From the beautiful pontoon fendered racing cars of the 1950's to the flat 12-cylinder mid-engine cars made famous by the Miami Vice TV show, we'll have a large gathering of "Redheads" at the Annual Meet.

Watch the two videos below to see the fun things we're going to do at the 2014 Annual Meet!

    Wow.
    Great opp. For me
If I have this car in june, the national is in.
    Wish I could attend cav.

I know the importance of multiple concours awards.
You establish and document the condition and the time it is in that cond.
I won my class at greenwich concours with my last Ferrari 512
It really made a difference when I went to sell it.
    Thanks for the heads up!

    BTW
Check out the straman tr in the fca video, annual meet.
    Nice

    Amazing car...

Agreed that finding pristine examples are difficult..... However, priced north of $160k, you should re-de-commission it.....its going to take someone with a severe Miami Vice hangup, more money than sense, or Jesus to come back to buy it.....

It would be an increadible depreciation curve for anyone that drives it.

Take it to the 2014 Meet and not only go for Platino but do the Coppa Bella Machina too. CBM requires the car first be Platino (95 point minimum) then starts the process from there. Absolutely everything must function correctly (pass/fail, no point deduction scheme) and includes a 5 mile drive to prove that the car is dynamically right too.

I agree with all the positive posts here.

There may be a preservation award in the future as well. I will go back and look at the paper trail.

Oil changed every year, etc. would be icing on the cake.

Maybe it's just me, but would a serious collector pay over $160K for a TR, knowing that it was driven on seemingly unimproved roads (see pic above) and in the snow (see pic w/ad)?

Wouldn't make much different to me, but hey, I ain't a collector.

They can be a bit ... picky.

    Splendid car though.

Judging by the amount of views this thread has received in such short time
It occurs to me that many potential buyers might wish to remain silent or
    Anonymous.
I believe that a potential buyer has already read my ad , But because of the circus environment that has been created, chooses to be cautious in inquiring.
Its not just this site, all blogs are stereotypical of this unbridled behavoir.
I am posting my personal e mail address as if this is the case I would like to assure personally that your wish of anonymity will be followed to the utmost extreme.

    OK, I jumped the gun..
In Retrospect , before I advertised at the $160,000 price....I should have waited till I showed the car at Greenwich or a FCA event. I would have put some credence to my claim of concours condition, still hope to do that.
But...I am a man of my Word..after the 90th day I shall supply MR. C the promised reward.

The new Listing Price is $135,000.00
I really dont expect much activity till spring as this is one hell of a winter!!

No Regrets..either way you look at it...when I walk in my garage and see 2 incredible 512's side by side...
It takes my Breath away... I dont mind waiting!
I will need an Oxygen tank in there if that does not stop!!

You will enjoy, and at the same time, very much regret the day you part with your mistress Mike.

    Good-luck.

I truly wish you the best of luck with the sale (of both cars). I know that this black car is a truly spectacular example of an '87 Testarossa and I'm sure that whoever ends up with it will be truly happy.

I am not sure if a platinum award at Cavallino or even a Best in Class award would warrant the $160k price tag when compared to what else is on the market, although if someone wants the best and if they determine that your car is the best, then maybe they give you that. Owning the "best of the best" sometimes goes beyond just dollars.

However, I have some thoughts about maybe why you haven't gotten the reaction you were hoping for. In reading through this thread and the other, it seems that maybe the reason for that hesitation from buyers might be posts of yours like post #7 in this thread. You essentially said that whoever is wealthy enough to spend the money on this car doesn't have sense. By extension, you're saying that your car at that price is a nonsensical purchase. It's hard for someone to feel good about buying it when you yourself called their purchase nonsensical.

Furthermore, when you make statements like you did in your "Queen Mother" thread that "there are times to buy and times to sell and now is a time to buy" then it makes someone question why you're selling or whether or whether or not you're just simply being disingenuous.

Also, I have no idea what your actual purchase price was but if people have reason to suspect through past "for sale" links to this car that your spread between what you're asking is usurious and you're simply looking for a quick flip, then I would think that you should be pretty conscious about how you're making potential buyers feel. I mean no one wants to feel like a sucker, right?

Your use of superlatives probably doesn't help when combined with your own statements that you're "revered" by your peers in your industry. Again, I'm sure you're a smart guy and I remember your success with your Boxer but this is another example of words that I feel are probably not helping you.

Again, I suspect that this car would probably stand up to the highest level of scrutiny by a potential buyer but it's hard for someone to feel good about buying it at all, let alone that price, when you add up all of your statements. I think that it makes potential buyers feel like they're being taken for a ride while you snicker about their lack of intelligence in the background.

I don't say this to be mean or hurtful but rather just as some constructive advice. Again, by all accounts this car is very nice and I'm sure that whoever buys it will be very happy with it.

And I am in no way a professional salesman of anything or anything other than a total amateur car collector and hobbyist but as someone who has bought some special cars (maybe even the "best of the best"), these are just my thoughts and I hope they help you.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck with the sale of these great cars.
