I think the Turbo 4 cylinder engine will be a good fit for this car. Remember that BMW now puts turbo 4's into their 3 and 4 series cars. They get a lot of performance out of theirs. Cheers, Jeff
A forced air I4 is a good idea for a car like this. I think it's the engine and configuration they've picked that's triggered some criticism.
I think it is very impressive that Alfa has managed to put together a car that - looks incredible - has super-car like performance - gets incredibly good gas mileage - isn't priced ridicously - true to Alfa's heritage deploys advanced solutions such as the carbon fiber tub I don't see any other car on the market hitting all these points - Lotus, Porsche, or any other, but maybe I am biased or missed some... Admittedly, some of these parameters are somewhat subjective, but... Alfas strike an emotion with some, and not with others, and that is fine. This is a responsible super car, signaliing an owner who cares about the future of our planet and how we leave it for our children. Maybe a bit over the top, but the concept appeals to me.
Thanks for the link. The sound reminds a bit of the 2010 500 Abarth I used to have. Very nice shift sounds as well.
Alfa now seems to be looking to increase 4C production due to higher demand. Alfa Romeo wants to produce 5000 4C?s in 2014 | AutoEdizione.com
Excellent! That's great news. Hopefully a good number of them will fall into the hands of US customers who end up not liking its small size and lack of comforts and flood the second hand market with plenty of stock. Mark
Well that's a given This also will almost assure that Alfa makes a hot rod version of the 4C as there is alot of interest in the car.......Great news.
People in Europe seem very happy with the car! Only country where we have no news on delivery in Europe is the UK....we still have NO IDEA! Based on the contract I signed delivery was supposed to be 15th December 2013 with a possible delay of 150 days. So let's hope for the 15th April
Increased production is great news. If you are a fan of Alfa I just don't follow how some do not like the car. Besides the 8C this is the first Alfa since 95, it's been a long wait. To me she is truly gorgeous...lights and all. Only hope I can swing one.
I might wait for someone to blow this motor, buy the carcass and drop in either an NA K20/24 hybrid or a K20 with a Rotrex. (I need to get some overtime . . . )
Not a bad idea...plenty of Lotus with Honda conversion that are extremely fast. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So odd...as usual. They loved it the first time they tested it, then they published an article where they complained a lot about it and then they love it again on TV. Good journalism ;-) PS The episode was lots of fun though
does anyone know when we can place orders in the US? I've contacted my Maser dealer to see if they knew anything and got a "nope". Are there any dealers in the US yet? I can't even find "north america" let alone USA on the AR website... Google search has no new news since november rumors Such a mystery...
I've been working with my Fiat dealer for about a year. Here is the latest: Some Fiat dealers will get an Alfa/Maserati franchise. Only the top Fiat selling dealers will get Alfa franchises. Mine is one of the top 4 in the US and they expect to get Alfa. I've talked to them and they don't know anything. However, I told them I want a car and they said they would happily sell me a car. Wynn Penske Ferrari/Maserati confirmed to me they will not sell Alfa or the 4c. They said it will be converted Fiat dealers. My suggestion is find the biggest local Fiat dealer and talk to them. No official orders have been placed yet and only a small number of cars have been delivered in Europe.
I just watched the TG episode. Italians sure have humour!! It's wider than a Murcielago and Pagani Zonda!!
It isn't. The Murciélago is 2.04m/2.05m (LP640) wide, without mirrors; 2.24m with mirrors. The Zonda is well over 2m without mirrors. The 4C is 1.86m wide without mirrors, and 2.09m with mirrors.
