What's a good price for this? 2007 Used Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 2dr Cpe at Fort Lauderdale Collection Serving Pompano Beach, FL, IID 11328178 I saw in another thread someone was selling the same car with some different add ons for around $160,000, but that was in VA and I'm in FL, don't want to pay extra tax..should the price point be similar on these two?
I would skip this car. In 2007 the CCM brakes were optional and this doesn't seem to have them. This is a very early build 2007- it says it was made in July 2006. The car also is lacking shields on the exterior- which I think looks fine without them but many buyers will insist on them. The problem simply is there are nicer, newer, better optioned cars out there. Also I've never seen a 599 with the older head unit in it. Its also lacking the auto dimming mirror and LED on the steering wheel which most 599s seem to have. I think you would regret purchasing this one. I wouldn't pay in excess of 100 for this car.
I think the car looks cool naked without the shields. This is not the popular opinion as dealers and marketing are pushing for shields shields shields. Some might like that the car has steel brakes. Owners of 430 scuds have posted about switching to steel brakes. Ultimately, the question is do you like the car? If so, is this a good example at a fair price? Have the possible areas of concern on the 599 been checked on this car? There are some other threads that list the possible areas of concern on a 599.
Yes agreed on those points but I am thinking of what happens when he wants go sell- the only way to move that car will be to price it at a meaningful discount to the other 599s around.
Jamie, That's my car up on the add space, let me know if you're interested. It's a clean ride and I think it blows away this car The only tax you'd be paying is your FL tax. G4
You won't even get a 12K mile 2007 612 for under 100K. Under 100K is being a little too optimistic....
Personal taste/choice. 599 is probably my next stop and I specifically don't want CCB's. Yes, I'm the one Completely pointless for me and my driving habits, liability only if they should be damaged. Don't care about HGTE either. I like shields so this wouldn't be the car for me either, and it clearly isn't the car for you. These aren't reasons to say it's not the car for the OP. To the OP, I think you more or less answered your own question. $160k is the floor for these cars (asking), and this would be an example that would probably be about that range. Lucky for us they're getting down there. I'll be looking at the same price point likely, maybe as early as spring unless I decide to go 612 OTO instead. I'd start with an offer around $135k and let them scoff for a couple of weeks. I'd bet you could get her for a little over $140k.
Not going to happen... 135 is trade in value, at 150-160 these fantastic rides are a steal. Keep waiting, it will be a LONG time as the F12 has placed a floor given the 3-4X cost difference.
The 599 is a great car, but it's huge!! It's wider then a BMW 7 series ( or ford f150) and longer the a BMW 5 series. You don't notice it when your behind the wheel, but it is a very big car.
Might not be trade in on a car without shields. Imagine if the car consigned at $130k+10% to the dealer, my math is correct. I said he might get it for low $140k's.
I find the CCBs to be worthwhile just because they eliminate the brake dust and the wheels stay clean. Personally, I don't think shields belong on a street Ferrari, but I'm pretty much a dinosaur. I know someone who had a black/black 599, except his had yellow stitching and a bright yellow steering wheel! That was not a good combination, IMO. No shields, at least.
Thank you!!! Being able to play devil's advocate and see the bad side of what I want to purchase is probably just as necessary hearing good stuff about it. I am looking for a good investment so this is definitely something to consider. Your car looks awesome tbh, didn't know about the tax, going to look into it. Yeah I think that apart from looking around some more I might as well come in with a low offer. God I'm glad I joined this forum !
Jamie, Almost no modern Ferrari is a good financial investment. You can buy a several year old car and avoid most of the depreciation, that's just mitigating the hit. That's a pretty smart move but it doesn't change the fact that these will all depreciate. I'd say you are better off finding a more desirable example as it will be easier to move on later. That said, I think their modern cars are wonderful drivers and a great investment in your mental well being. You are smart to try to limit the financial damage so it doesn't cause you mental distress.
Ouch, glad I'm doing my research here. Thanks for the advice. I need to find a balance between getting a car I've always wanted and adhering to my personal investment philosophies. Definitely learning a lot on this forum.
+1. Just saw my old 599 at CNC website. I had basically every option marked on that car,it was about $350k back in Feb 2007,Nero D with Burgundy Daytonas and all carbon fiber I could get. It shows only 7k miles and is listed at high $160k.
I think you have to accept that you are going to pay. You should not fall into the trap of "I'll never sell it so it doesn't matter what it costs". The odds are you will one day want to sell it. So you have to decide how sensitive you are to the financial impact things like options, color, miles, year generate. If you are someone who is extremely sensitive, you should get a car with under 10k miles, red exterior, either black or tan interior, LED steering wheel, shields on the exterior.
I once read a quote somewhere on this site that says something like "Price is what you pay, value is what you get". Well, for ~160 or so, a beautiful exotic coupe from Ferrari with a super car (Enzo) V12 engine is really tough to beat. Nero/ burgundy is a beautiful combo.
Conversely, "Someone will buy it within a few percent of the appropriate price, no matter how "rare" the build" would also be true. One truism about these cars, they may take time but they will eventually sell. Get what you want and enjoy it. If it's an odd combo, just pay a few percent less for it now and expect a few percent less for it later.
If you like it without the shields, buy it. It took me a while to find one without shields, just because I like the look better, but there you go. Something for everybody.
To be fair, before we buy that next car, we're all always hoping to be on the other end of a good dip and that it'll hold while we own it better than we have a right to expect. It's always the same thing, pay to play. When you're holding, you hate seeing people looking for a bargain on your model. When you're in the market, it's another story. Right now I'm watching with interest hoping to get a great deal on a 599 sometime soon, while hoping my 612 doesn't tank Perfectly normal. Got a good drive on the 612 today though and I'm just loving that car more and more. Yeah, wow, talk about under appreciated. And it does take some driving right now to get her warmed up. Wonderful car.
