    OH MY GOD AMG55, There's a bloody hole in your subframe in front of the pulley!!!! It can clearly be seen in the photos you have posted on page one of this thread (2&5). It's been butchered, is this something you have done or was it like that when purchased?
    Do you know the amount of ammunition you have given the nay Sayers now. This is the second 355 that I have seen on here with a hole in the subframe, the other one was a little bigger than yours, but it's still there.
    Now you have gone and done it.....10...9....8....7....6....5....4....3...2....1.....

    Does anyone have a pic of the subframe in that area in a removed assembly? I would like to see where that hole was made from the firewall side.

    Is that the subframe or the frame of the car itself?

    See attached. The hole in the picture shown above alomost looks non-stock. You will see in mine (if we are talking the same thing), I don't have that hole (when viewing frame of car with engine out - frame in car, not sub-frame).

    Ok this is the pic. What is that hole in this pic on the bottom between the two mounting plate areas?

    Is the hole in his a different one than that one?

    Is his hole in line with the crankshaft?

    If you look close at his picture you will see the same off center hole. I don't know what it is for but I do see I don't have the center hole (in line with the crank) like he does..

    Maybe I should market a diamond tip hole saw specially designed to blow through 355 frames.

    Comes with a set of brand X belts and Chinese tensioner bearings.

    LULZ. I didnt cut anything on this car. Nothing. I knew everyone would attack my contribution, but for those who didn't believe you could do the engine in belt service there are the access photos. The car runs beautifully and I am very pleased. I want to say the belts I took off were at least 05? Any way to tell when they changed to the new part number belt?

    As you can see my invoices, I was into parts for under $500 total! There was alot of slack on the passenger belt, I am assuming from wear and tensioner bearing clearance. I did the 2.5 mm hole in hydralic tensioner adjustment method and turned the motor 3 times by hand via crank pulley before putting the covers back on. The AC lines do run right in front of the driver side cover so that one is a little tight but there is nothing obstruction the belt replacement as you can see.


    That subframe piece is filled with rubber plugs covering holes and the shifter rod hole? Is my car non stock or do they all come like this? The metal feels so thin you can crush it just by squeezing on it.

    All we did was disconnect the 4 motor mounts and lift the motor just enough to slip in a slim line 36mm in that void shown above to loosen the pulley.

    I told you in my first post didnt I. These belt with engine in threads never end well.
    Your car has had holes cut into the cross member by some one to make an in car belt change easyer.
    Does not really natter from this point how you did the swap, every one has seen the cut out hole. To make it clear, the center pulley hole is not standard.
    Mate get that hole welded up and dont post up your vin number. Because once thats out there, any ferrarista will not touch it.

    I don't understand why this guy is getting beat up for doing what he did and posting it? I would not do it this way, but I am not offended that he did and do find the post rather interesting. It does appear to me that the fram has been modified, but just cause it may be modified, it does not mean that he did it. A prior owner may have.

    I knew it would become a popular thread, but now someone can use those pictures to see what space there is to work in. I was only able to find maybe 3 or 4 photos on the entire internet of this procedure.

    So all those rubber plugs are non factory in my beam?

    That big hole in front of the main engine pulley is the result of the last butcher who did the engine-in belt change. You just happened to be the recipient of such grace. The off-side little hole is supposed to be there for the shift rod. That one should not be plugged up with plugs.

    Oh my gawd ,,,,,do I have to spell it out for some people......the offset hole is for the shift shaft ....just like Brian said.

    The hole in-line with the crank (crank pulley) had to have been added....this hole DOES NOT EXIST ON A STOCK OEM FRAME. PERIOD.

    Added = with a sawsALL

    LOLOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL !!!!!!

    This frame has been permanently structurally compromised.

    Should I call carfax and autocheck and tell them its a salvage frame damage vehicle? That might affect the 99 score that it currently has. They would love to know that my timing belts were swapped in the car, my insurance might cancel my policy now if they find out too.

    Hold on, I have to go in my garage and check if the F355 folded itself in half because of the alleged grace.
