just acquired an 07 599. Completely forgot it runs an enzo engine. Love it. It is so much more car than the v8's. Where i live it costs 1/4 the price of a new f12, yet I think it's probably 80% of the car an F12 is.

Happy to join the 599 fraternity.

Congratulations. I'm about one good contract behind you. I love my 612 but I'm excited to move into a 599 hopefully this year. And yes, couldn't agree more. Yours is only a couple years newer than my Scalietti but the cars are a different generation technically. I've sat in a 599 at FoW on numerous occasions, as recently as two weeks ago, and marvel at the comfort, space, fit and finish. Body continues to endear more and more. I love that, although it's the same material and will need help eventually, the 599 only has a tiny fraction the potential sticky parts of the 612. Clearly as you pointed out, the motor is simply a different generation. I'm hoping to do some good, long drives in the 612 come spring. I love her and want to really experience some serious hobbs time, and that's saying something considering my average driving is already about 400mi a month. But my hope is to take a few good road trips with her and put her up for consignment and move into a 2007 599 as well. Again, congrats.

Piper- do it man, the 599 is whole different experience than 612 even though they appear similiar.

I get it. At least an OTO would be closer in some ways, but my 2005 is more a product of the 90's than the 2000's. There's a reason it's only worth $90k or so. I love it, it's classy and fun for the whole family, plenty useful, but looking forward to the next Ferrari experience.

the 599 is a FANTASTIC car. excellent performance and yet very comfortable as a daily driver. congrats on your purchase!

in regards to 'underrated', i don't view it that way. i think that most who have driven one has come away with a very positive impression. but the nature of this industry is that there is a lot of hype and mania for the 'latest and greatest'. so when the f12 came out, demand for the 599 dropped and the prices fell accordingly.

personally, i am very happy about this since i enjoy being on the other side of the trade. :) so i view this 'market inefficiency' as a GOOD thing, enabling purchase of these wonderful machines at a very reasonable price.

There really is nothing like the Ferrari V12. Smoothness, sound, and power.

The 599 is a nearly a perfect car in every way, under $200k there is a lot of value there. Does anyone have final build numbers for this car? I'd be interested to know how many exist. With global markets in 08 & 09 I'm wondering how many were constructed.

They are amazing value these days:

Used 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano 2dr 6.0 CERAMIC BRAKES/SAT NAV for sale in Essex | Pistonheads

30k Miles 599 in subtle colours for just over £75k

    vs

Used 2003 Ferrari 575 for sale in Hampshire | Pistonheads

23K miles 575, also in subtle colours for £65k

£10k difference in price. Immense difference in performance.

I'm a huge fan of the Maranello body shape, but if I had to choose between fairly similarly priced 575s and a 599 (this 575 is priced in the middle market, mind!) I'd take the 599 GTB any day of the week.

Make mine black with red interior, or grey with black or bordeaux. Cheers!!!

I do not think the 599 is underrated, just underpriced. Seems most want the boy racer V8s and that shows in the prices. Down the line, though, we shall see. Especially since production was probably less than 5000 and F430 production probably pushed past 15,000. 612 production was 3025, by the way.

For as many 612s as I have seen coming up for salvage auction in the past year, I'd guess there are now less than 3000 left in the wild.

Chas- I do not think Carbon knows either. The reason we know there were 3025 612s is this below. Hopefully someday we well get a look at the same thing for the 599.

said it many times before and i say it again, my 599 was my fastest feeling car in a straight line since 09' and even to now. 5 years! not even the aventador nor the F12 gives u that scary sensation while punching the throttle. Mine wasnt the HGTE so it could be the lack of grip and monster torque that made me always miss my 599 when i want time bending straight line speed.

but once u get to a corner, which is like every 10 feet where i drive, u need something like a scud or 458, so it had to go. but yes, with the prices used, its the BEST value. i can buy 2 now with what i paid with very low miles.

    here was my 599 :
