I don't have a problem with someone paying $4500 for a belts and water pump..but 7 or 8k is nuts.i know a guy that got charged 9k just for belts at the dealer

No. Ferrai guys don't pay 3 times the labor for a brake job. They pay max 3 hours for all around. The profit margin is much smaller on the Ferrari job vs the BMW job. I use all oe on the Ferrari stuff. No exceptions.

I too use oe parts on the late model bmw's. Package pricing on a 2010 335 for fronts is 425 with labor. Early cars I use either brembo or Zimmerman, with TRW pads. Although the Zimmerman rotors as of late have not been good. I'm currently looking into using texstar rotors.

We spend upwards of 40k a month with just 1 supplier. That increases our buying power by a huge margins. We must spend close to 20k a month with Mercedes and BMW dealers combined.

Tough one to answer. Everyone is different. Some just need the basic service, others need a ton more. You never know what you are dealing with until the car is in front of you.

Are the manifolds leaking? Are the cats broken up? Engine mounts?, hoses, ignition wires, valve guides? How's the clutch? Etc..it's all different based on the car.

I can say a basic engine out with water pump ( I do not rebuild them..new or nothing) is 5500. Anything else is extra..

Don't want to take the risk. If the new pump fails, I get paid to re&re it. If I rebuild it and it fails, I eat it top to bottom. Not worth it.

Ok I can live with that if you don't want to rebuild the water pump...but that is a far cry from 8/9 k that mr wonderful thinks its worth.

We both don't know what he is including in his service. My price and inclusions could be far different then his. He may work to a different standard then I do. I may let things "slide" that he would not and that could be the differance. He may paint the valve cover, where as I would charge extra to do so. He may charge for a burnt light bulb where as I don't. It all equals out.

Some people love cosmetics over how the cars performs. Others are the complete opposite. And then there are those that are in between. They want the car to run and drive in an "acceptable" manner and look awesome at the same time. Yet they are not willing to pay the bill for such a privlage.

thanks for posting the pics I guess the experts may still be right that an engine belt service cannot be done without removing the engine or the fuel tank. I apologize for others beating you up for posting as Dave said its your carand do whatever you dam well please. Some of the guys on here get pretty hot under the collar when what they have been telling us gets challenged and stated as fact when it is dead wrong. I was just searching for the facts, the nice thing is now you know as well and one of us won't loosen engine mounts etc assuming we can do the same as you. I feel Dino is wrong in telling you not to post pics because you were stating a fact based on misinformation. If more were like you then the facts will speak for themselves.

If that is what you think matters. I'm sure a metric can be found which favors either car. Of course, none of this has anything to do with the OP, and other F355 forum characteristic...going off topic.

I have to agree with Dave on the "dickhead" and the "**** you", "Go **** yourself short dick mother****er", etc stuff. It shows a true lack of character, sophistication and probably education. It's a tactic used to make a point when you don't have one. Not unlike the idea that the way to win an argument is TO TALK LOUDER. And if you just want to insult people, there are more mature ways to do it.
