We had a long debate about this on either this thread or a RHD Countach thread on fchat. I recall that our conclusion was that the convoy car was 1120228, that it crashed and that it came back rebuilt as a red/bla LP400S as 1120228, however I'm sure that we concluded that the RHD crashed car was in fact LHD and the photo had been reversed, so it isn't 1120228. Now, I can't find the previous debate, so I may just be confusing everybody, imagining things or just dreaming..... I suppose the wheels don't have Lamborghini bulls in the centres that are backwards by any chance - Joe, your expert eye may be best to judge on this.

JOE - flattered to be mentioned in dispatches by you and alongside the eminent Paul Clemence too! Do you have a picture of Ali Taffi's black Anniversary by any chance? He had the car after his blue QV, but I can't find a picture of it anywhere.

Hmmm 1120264 was yellow and is now light green and seen in public a lot in Japan. 1120226 remains a mystery - the Lamborghini Registry is the only place to say it is RHD, but we know nothing about it to confirm or refute this.

Perhaps the image was flipped?? (as negatives often were in that period)

Funny, I shared parking space with Ali in Maida Vale in the late 80s and saw his Black 25th many times, but in those hectic days one did not stop often to take pictures!

You can tell from the Bertone side badge. The black section is on the left hand side of the badge so the previous image had indeed been reversed. So this looks as if it was a LHD car not 1120228.

Definitely not, you see at first glance the AC unit which was always located on the left side.

    Dear Stefano, very nice anecdote!

I have to thank you for all your books and articles in Autocapital and Le Grandi Automobili. "How to drive a Lamborghini" was one of my favourite... Indelible memories of my youth!

I remember very well how the Lamborghini brand was so underrated (probably more in Italy than in other Countries), forgotten by magazines and often even unknown to common people during the ‘80s. Such a pain for a “Countach boy”! This made the Countach even more exclusive, the choice of a great connoisseur, but try to find information, pictures and articles was so frustrating… but at least the posters choice was plentiful…!

I hope to see you soon on Discovery Channel!

    Best regards,

    Lorenzo

Here is 1121100 when relatively new in its original Luci Del Bosco/Bianco with Gold wheels livery, UK-registered FJB 1 when still owned by Frankie J Bradley

1176 was originally Rosso (now a custom non-Lamborghini color which I have no idea of the name!), and 1100 was originally Luci Del Bosco (now a custom color similar to LDB).

This is the image I meant, the text on the ILOC page where i'ts from said Armin Johl's Countach.
It's obviously not a QV but looks like a sister to mine, he got it directly in the factory handed over by Emil Novaro, it has 4-point harness, it has the LP500s side indicators.
    http://www.countach.ch/Images/diverse51.jpg

In a 1982 ILOC Magazine I found Fred Johl's LP400s #1121090 with swiss Registration GR-1332-Z, that time the LP400s was not yet homologated in Germany, so many owner had it registred in Switzerland, all the cars with plates with the Z at the end are such cars. I know at least from a handful.

Raymond, Armin Johl's LP500S was one of the first customer-delivered LP500S, delivered at an ILOC Ceremony at Sant Agata, as featured in the Rob Box book.

It was originally BLACK, painted mirrors, gold wheels, 4-point harnesses etc. I believe the chassis number is 12480.

If you blow up the picture you posted and look at the rear of the car in the shade, you can see its black. The frontal area is washed out by the sun. The pic is also old & yellowed.

Bonn-based Dieter & Frank Kremer bought the car from Armin (as Armin told me himself) and they painted the car red.

Here you can see it on the left (with gold badges) at the Nurburgring in the late 80s, Bonn-registered. Frank told me it had a special engine. Armin can't remember, but says all his Lamborghinis were special.

Raymond this Rome-registered LP400S is the earliest Countach that I'm aware of that has a color close to the lovely Chianti hue that yours has.

Sounds logical, since the Picture in the ILOC Magazine is from 1982 and there the cars looks very dark, unfortunately only b/w but from the history it matchs perfectly with the ceremony.

As always you are an incredible source of Information.

Sure, even if sometimes it was just said by the factory to make the Client think he got something Special, for sure he got one of the better engines they built around the weeks they built his car, like the reventons which got the good runing 650 hp Murcielago LP640 engines.

nice. That car is supposed tobe a Wallace turbo car. Just curious to know if the owner having kept the car for such a long time, kept the turbo or refurbished it tothe OEM engine?
