348CH and 355CH seats were made by OMP but, so far as I know, haven't been available for quite some time. No covers available either, so mine have been redone in similar-looking red fabric, with the logos added to duplicate the original.

Would you know of any that are particularly close to Challenge seats?

I would love better seat and like to be as close as possible to the OMP

OMP makes several models of fiberglass seats that approximate the challenge style for around $400 ea. Not exact copies, but close. Stock seats weigh in excess of 50lbs each!!!!

The new OMP logo is awful. Try find OMP Grip in red. Those are made in the early nineties and are similar to the Challenge seats. Carbon fiber and red.

The 348 and F355 Challenge seats were based on the OMP Vid, out of production since the late 90's.

The Challenge version is carbon Kevlar blend.

This is the weave of the Vid, I have two NOS. Black fabric.

    Best,
    Rob

Question is would you guys install this challenge seats on your 355 or keep the original leather seat. If the car is just for weekend.

Without question, replacing 110lbs worth of seats with 30lbs worth of seats is the best performance bang for the buck in a 348 or 355!

Spider seats may weigh slightly more
That and that darn super stereo will save another 30lbs
    Strait pipes - another -30

WOW I can drop realistically 140lbs, thats like adding 20hp or something like that

It's relatively straightforward to drop ~100-150 lbs, but beyond that it becomes a real compromise in terms of streetability. I dropped 25 lbs removing an amp and 2 box speakers from car. Another 20lbs in wheels/tires (lighter wheels were partly offset by heavier tires), 64 lbs with the seats (my Challenge seats are covered in leather, plus I'm counting weight of mounting hardware), plus 25 lbs with a Braille battery. Cats would probably be another 30 lbs or so, but they're still on my car.

Wish I could say that by taking out the weight that I can actually feel it in the seatofpantsometer, but I'd be lying. But I made changes gradually, not all at once, so it was tough to gage.

Put a 120 pounder in the car then kick her out and see the difference :)

Yes I have one of those super stereos with sub box amps etc, I never listen to it so going to put a nav unit in its place
I have the Challenge wheels michlens to help on weight

If you really want to drop some weight fast, next time you need a battery get a 12V Lithium-Ion Battery, that would shave off a good 50lbs quick! The prices are coming down, maybe $400 to $500. Just thinking out loud.. :)

I think the current OMP champ or ARS is close in shape to the old challenge seats. The key is the low leg bolster shape so you can get in and out of the car, so I'd probably go with the champ.

Had a bad taste from a braile battery the exploded on me on a bike, was an early production one. Not sure I would visit them again for a while.

    Any recommendations from experience ?
Do they require a special charge system?

I should try that. The wife might object though ;)
