Ketel- Keep at it and she will work. Really happy for you that you have the correct PIN. There needs to be a 2-20 second delay after you enter the last PIN number, which is why the checklist says to count to 5 for ~5 seconds.
You are getting close!!! Good job. When you are done you can either use the old FOB's and clone them so they act like clones of the new set or you can sell the old FOB's to someone else who wants to clone so they have 2+ FOB's. So get a few bucks back anyway.
So, no luck pairing the FOBs. Yes, as I posted earlier, keying the old PIN in via the key click sequence Taz described was able to get the vehicle started and I did drive her a bit today. I tried several different ways and what I noticed is that at the end of the keying sequence (after the fourth digit is keyed) the instructions say to wait 5 seconds and then do another 10 clicks. On the 11th click the LED should flash, letting you know the system is ready to pair the fobs. Problem is that I am not getting any LED flashing. Since that did not work, I followed the other instructions on Taz's write up that said sometimes it takes more than 10 clicks (up to 20) for the LED to flash. I did that as well. Still, no LED flashing. Even after 20 clicks. What am I missing? Also, one thing I should mention that *could* have bearing on this is that the fobs the dealer sold me were technically for a 360. The parts guy said he thought they'd work for a 355 but wasn't 100%. Does anyone know for certain whether a set of new fobs for a 360 can still be paired for a 355? thanks. ketel
Ketel- Usually the hard part is getting the engine started. After that, usually happens quickly. If worse comes to worst, at least you can drive her to the dealer now.
Dam Ketel did the same thing but the led started flashing for me waited less than 10 seconds. The alarm horn itself has a battery built intO it that's why I think the alarm would still go off with no main battery. Not positive of this though. Maybe if your battery in the horn itself is dead causing a problem for you? Again not sure?
Grant- Affirmative, the alarm siren has its own rechargeable battery in case thieves cut the battery cables prior to stealing. In some older Corvettes, the battery was inside the port fender and thieves used to just drill holes in the battery near the bottom to drain it and shut off the alarm. Not possible with 5.2 and later Ferraris.
OK, got another copy of instructions of the key and fob re-coding procedure from FoSF. The only real difference from the one Taz circulated is that it suggests 12 key clicks from "0" to "II" after the PIN sequence is entered before the fast flashing is supposed to start, signaling the system is ready to accept the pairing of the fobs. Again, I'm not getting any flashing. In typical Ferrari fashion, the instructions are vague around whether the flashing is supposed to appear once you stop clicking on and off the key and leave it in the on or off position, or if you are just supposed to keep clicking until flashing appears. Either way, no flashing. Thoughts? ketel
Ketel, Did you receive a new PIN with your new set of 3 FOB's? I'm asking this for my purposes, it has nothing to do with your situation. Thank you.
I cannot remember exactly what I did since it's been a lonnnng time. But I do not think it's the fobs because the flashing light started at the 11 click. I believe when you turn the key back on for the 11 th time is when it started flashing for me.
Ketel- You can always take her to the dealer since you can start her. The LED lights with the ignition in ON after the initial 5 second wait after the PIN code is entered. You then have 2 seconds to turn the ignition from ON to OFF and back to ON and wait for the LED to light. Again once the LED lights in ON, back to OFF and back to ON in less than 2 seconds. Repeat until the count reaches 11 (or 12, mine was 11), at which point the LED should flash.
Thanks. I'll give it one more try on my own before tucking my tail between my legs and taking it to the dealer who will likely do EXACTLY the same thing but somehow make it work...and then hand me a handsome bill ketel
Ask a friend to give it a try. But if you do, leave them alone so you don't influence them. Sometimes another set of eyes is all that is needed.
I also got a new pin what was interesting in my case is only one black remote worked when I got the car after doing the same as Ketel and using the red fob then both black fobs now all three work.
Ketel as above you quoted one master and two red slaves. I think this is your problem. My 355 uses a red as master then two black as slaves. If you are pushing the black after the 10 plus clicks this may also be a problem.
If I remember correctly the led comes on at other times as well. I take it your led does work does it not? One thing you might try is at the end even thou the led is not flashing what about you assume it is and continue. Maybe it will still work it's just not telling you with the led.
No. I must have misspoken. I have one red (master) and two black (slave) fobs, not the other way around. I have been trying with the master fob, but perhaps I'll try with a slave first. This is Ferrari, after all.... ketel
How long did your Fobs take to come in? Mine were ordered at the end of December and there is still no ETA.
Yes, but I also ordered the retreval of the old PIN with them. I did not think I recevied it, but it turns out it was hand written on a P/N label. I just found this out today after months trying to get the info. I plan to try it on Sunday.
I ordered a key, The PIN retrieval and a new set of FOB's. My Key came first and I'm not thinking the balance of the order was placed at a later date (I think it was forgotten and slipped thru the cracks)
