Howie, I can empathize with the fact that Countachs can sometimes be difficult to sell, despite the fact that everybody seems to want them and values are always being talked up. Its quite possible that your circle of clients & contacts are the type who are looking for certain variants of Countach, and in fact dislike the 25th. On the other hand, I have had people contact me looking for a 25th and nothing else. It happens both ways. However, it is true that the earlier cars are more popular than 25ths, perhaps unfairly for the 25th, and that is the reason I started this thread. What sells Countachs are a combination of great cars and a knowledgeable seller. For example, you say "1981 LP500S". There is no such thing. A 1981 is an LP400S, or, an LP500S is a 1982/83/84. Countach buyers today are very knowledgeable themselves, and the smallest discrepancy espoused by the seller will put them off. For example, the Silver 25th you speak of came to me as perhaps the best conditioned Countach I have seen. All I did was service it and put on a sports exhaust and I had several people wanting to buy it. But it also had the fact that it is a one-off livery going for it. Great cars will always have multiple buyers. My main business is Ferrari Supercars (288 GTO/F40/F50/Enzo), but I still manage to sell half-a-dozen or more great Countachs a year, so it can't be that difficult. Placed | Joe Sackey Classics A lot depends on your circle of clients & contacts and what they are looking for. I do think you are a bit behind on values though, but, that's no crime, you can always do the necessary research. Please allow me to correct some erroneous statements you have made: - I did not pay $100k for the Silver 25th. - I did not sell the car for $210k. Here is what I said: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/142811725-post2228.html The sales price & the purchase price will not be mentioned here, save to say that the man who sold it to me is quite happy, and the man who bought the car is quite happy too. - I did not start this thread to bump the values, I did so because I felt the 25th was unfairly overlooked. That much is clear. However, if anyone thinks that the sole reason for starting & maintaining this thread was to increase values, then they must also think I am a marketing genius, and I humbly accept the thought as a compliment. Either way is fine with me. - I did not have 2 or 3 25ths available when I started the thread, nor have I ever had 2 or 3 25ths available at any point. All you have to do is ask rather than assume, and at the very least, I can clarify privately. I hope my comments have been helpful.
I have a question? Where were these countachs advertised for 5 years???? You had 3 anniversaries up for sale??? Could you post the ad from Hemmings, Dupont, EBay, Auto Trader, F Chat or anywhere else you may have had them up for sale. Please call Marshall Goldman. They had 3 Anniversaries all which sold very quickly for over $140k each and that was before the spike in prices. So all these Anni's are for sale for 90k, that's great, please post them as I am extremrly interested. Cannot wait to see them Howie. Plus a DD Countach for 150K I am salivating. I wonder if some people post just to be controversial.
Joe, my apologies if I spoke incorrectly. By no means are my words malicious or meant to reflect you in a bad light. We all have tools to do our jobs, I feel you are able to utilize Fchat as a tool, and yes it is brilliant the way you are able to do so. You are very knowledgable, you post your thoughts very well, and you do it in such a way that EVERYBODY benefits. Imo, that will boost the value of the market, never mind the 25th alone. Sorry to sound like an a** kisser, and am not trying to inflate anyone's head, but again I feel Joes input here benefits the community as a whole. You have my respect Joe. Ps. If the quote wasn't aimed toward me please disregard this reply.lol
Peter, no offense taken! I have my own way of doing things, and I stick to my own style & what works for me. Meanwhile, I understand Howie's frustration. Best,
Mr Howhe Felt er bum , Im very interested in viewing your cars, post'em. Many posts sound like a low ball buyer or basher.
While reading the #12562 resto thread, Michael posted pics of his restored calipers and new lines. Does anyone know the color code of the paint that was used on the anniversary calipers? They are finished in a gold color vs a 'goldish' anodized.
Mick, Gorgeous car!!! I am still waiting to hear from Tbakowsky on the multitude of Countach's that he claims are available at $90,000. Howie, where are you?????!!!
I think it is not to be controvertial necessarily. The issue is that not that long ago, QVs injected and 25th were selling (or not) around the 90K. That has indeed changed in just a few years after a long flat pricing period. In fact that is the case for many many car models (check the BB512 latley..). the price hikes seem to have followed the drop in interest rates since 2009 and for what I see, just exploded about 1 year or so ago. What was trailing caught up. If a car has got a lots of issue, I can see the car going below the 100K. If a car is one of the best, 25th or not, it will go over the $200K. The problems with countaches is that the price range is quite wide depanding on condition. My feeling is that the range may not be that wide of other car like the F cars but I have not really searched that fact. But we can all agree on one thing: that is the Countach model is following the Muira scenario. One day the 25th will be worth what the 400 is worth today. That it be in 10, 20 or more years. These cars were icons of their era . I am convinced the non 400 Countach will be selling for a million in our lifetime.

Good points on the 25th..I have coming back to me from George Evans a NO EXSPENSE sparred 89 car, White in color...just not sure where I am going to price it at??
All classic & sports cars have a wide range in values, something I have posted here repeatedly. It appears to have increased. Current condition alone does not determine values: Past history, provenance, maintenance records, current mileage, and current status (modifications etc) all factor in current values. The current market is hypersensitive to all these factors, especially as values increase overall. As buyers speculate that we are approaching a bubble, they are proceeding with caution, and these factors are carefully considered...
Before and after would be nice. There are some sound clips out there but having the two versions to compare is always fun.
Re reading the entire thread, so any comments I make may be about old posts - apologies in advance Could be the perspective and angle but the difference in size there seems huge. The old flagship CT looks tiny compared to the 'small entry level' Cala prototype (which I actually had a drive of back in the day) Best handling ????? I'm sure Ive seen it said by many on here (including you in the main CT thread I think ???) that the lowbody handles best.
