2014 Bathurst 12 Hour - Finish - Final 12 Minutes - YouTube
Good stuff. I don't know anything about Bathurst, but it looks very cool. Seems like the 12c's may be in better form this season?
It was pretty cool, well actually pretty hot.. 39c (100+F) both days.. great sounds and an event that will continue to grow I'm sure. Early on the 458 was right up behind the Mercs then fell back a number of positions, possibly to conserve things and stay on the lead lap.. then brought it right back at the end after 12 hours of hard slog in the hottest of conditions with 60c track temp too.
The 12c ran strongly all day.. results here: 2014 12 Hour Results | Bathurst 12 Hour I'd be surprised if they met regs for race entry but I hope this event continues to attract even more international drivers and teams as it has done and the grid fills up with even more variety of good cars and strong contenders.
The top class seems to be GT 3 and we're likely too fast. That said with BOP they might invite us to race there.
Yes it's GT3 and I'd be the first to admit to not knowing all the ins and outs about it.. but you'd be sure as hell fast.. at Bathurst you get to exercise everything but especially good power and long legs.. With the 130% qualifying rule though your entry may send the gutsy little Abarth's home as they just squeaked by onto the grid this year as it was They ran hard all day but sure as heck needed to get out of the way a lot of the time.. Abarth racers qualify for Bathurst
No idea.. it was certainly an odd duck out there.. sounded ferocious.. I like to see more production recognised shapes battle it out but happy to see and hear anything interesting too! Maybe it'll get squeezed out in future years.. the grid was full and nothing really lame out there filling in the blanks or anything.
Hey Jim, We would certainly love to see the P4/5c at Bathurst next year. I was talking to Mika, and he remembered the car fondly. I'd be happy to make the introductions to the organizers if you like? Best regards, and a big fan of your work, Peter Edwards Maranello Motorsports
Hey Thanks! He's a great driver and a nice guy. We're building a new road and race car for 2015 but it's going to be somewhat faster than GT3 which as I understand it is the top class at Bathurst. Congratulations on a Great result!! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/special-projects-concept-cars/401864-scg-003-scg-003c-formerly-known-p-33-a-29.html#post142912262 Best
The coverage was much better for Bathurst than Daytona. The live streaming that lasted all twelve hours was great and wasn't glitchy. Congrats to Maranello Motorsports.
I took inspiration from your projects, and although not in car form, I commissioned a designer to do a modern take on the original Fiat transporter. I'd be interested in your view. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very Cool. I looked into vintage transporters but the only thing is that they take three men and a dog to load a car and aren't weathertight. You should come and race the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
Peter, congratulations for the well deserved win! I thoroughly enjoyed watching what I could from this year's race. You guys did a tremendous job! All the best...
For those who have time to spare, the amazing full race here ;-) 2014 Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour, 8 - 9th Feb on Livestream
By the way Mount Panorama is arguably one of the greatest racetracks in the world as you can see in the video footage!!
They actually make them in Melbourne presently - as a modern car - otherwise would be pretty hard to get the LS7 shoved in the front! According to the technical director, owner of the company being a motorsport "personality" also has some sway. All rather besides the point anyhow, classes B-D and later additions of E and I, just there to make up numbers essentially, until more GT3 cars come to displace them.
