To the best of my knowledge, only two GTEs were made into convertibles and the work was done by the owners. No GTE is listed in the factory records as a cabriolet.
Not really I , was just trawling e-bay and saw that model. Tom, have you ever seen/do you have a picture of the owner converted cars?
This seems the appropriate place to post images of 2 GTE's. I did not have the opportunity to identify them at the Garden party of classic car broker Christophe Pund in the French town of Cassel. http://www.ferrari-world.be/Events%202013/Cassel%202013/images/Cassel%20095.jpg http://www.ferrari-world.be/Events%202013/Cassel%202013/images/Cassel%20110.jpg
Might take a bit of work before it's ready for posing on the Corniche ? What's the story behind the picture Kare ?
4355 - Makes a brief appearance here. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vintage-thru-365-gtc4-sponsored-vintage-driving-machines/46212-250gte-low-power-mufflers-plugged.html Was a stablemate of my car at Garage Francorchamps in 1963.
Have not personally seen it, but I know it has been with the same owner in Phoenix since 1990. It has been under restoration with some parts from donor GTE 4325 GT most of that time. Glad to see it back on the road!
Not sure where 3547 is today but I have paperwork showing it was traded in to a dealer in 1996 for a 348tb which I currently own. The price given for it was $45,000
3547 GT is alive and looking good on the east coast of the US. Click the arrow by the quote to see the photos.
Thanks Tom! I guess I should have read a bit more of the thread. What a stunning car. The car and the location photos are amazing. I can't stop looking at it. In fact one of the pics is now my desktop background.
I have just returned to London from Modena in Italy, where, as part of its nut and bolt restoration, Series 3 number 4139 is undergoing its retrimming. This is taking place at "Tappezzeria Luppi", the small artisans' workshop which has been doing the trimming and retrimming for classic Ferraris for almost 40 years, after Enzo F. decided to subcontract the work rather than having it done in-house. Today the trimming of new cars is done in-house once again, so Luppi deal now exclusively with classic restorations. The colour of the car has been put back to the original "Grigio Scuro", and the leather interior will be the, again original, dark red: these days Connolly Vaumol 3086. My computer skills are feeble, but I will try to post some photos. When Luppi have done their stuff, 3149 will come back to England for the restoration to be completed. Other than the leather, it will be 98% original. I hope the car will be back on the road some time this summer. Jeremy
2171GT always shows up at the Cavallino Classic parking lot. i have seen the car 2003, 2004 and 2007. 2014 it is still in beautiful unrestored condition. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love it. Wonderful that such an early car is still unmolested. Wish they'd left the long hood strip on the later cars.
3547, anybody know the name of that dark red? Is it an original colour? Not a fan of "re-sale red" but that deep colour I love.
Hi do you know the owner? I would be interested in buying this car. Actually I am interested in buying a 250 GTE in any running condition either pre-restoration or post restoration. Please let me know if anyone has a 250 GTE for sale.
