It looks like a great book, but paying $65 shipping for a $76 book is absolutely ridiculous. They need to offer a more reasonable, if slower rate, as an option. Personally, I don't care if the book takes six weeks to get to me.
Some people here seem to despise me because of my sharp tongue. Well, I tell it the way I see it. On that note, I'd like to make some more comments. Today Retromobile in Paris opened. It is a wonderful show, with lots of interesting people, cars, art and other things to see. But for folks that are into books, the highlight of the show must be the Hortons stand, excuse me boutique. Moreover, Ben Horton and Andy Massen are true professionals. So it was very nice to see them introduce 'A Postcard From Maranello'. As many of you know this is the follow up title on the great book 'The Sales Drive From Maranello'. Wonderful also to meet both authors, Nathan Beehl and Ronald Stern. From what I've seen sofar, I think 'A Postcard From Maranello' is even better than their former book. Congratulations Nathan and Ronald! Another introduction on the show is 'Ferrari Fever', by Paul Schouwenburg. An exhaustive tome on a lifetime of buying, selling, restoring and collecting some of the most beautiful cars in the world. And again my compliments to David Williams, author of the wonderful book on 06885, who was also present at Hortons. Simon Moore of Alfa fame, was present today at the Retro. He told me that his next book will be published this year. It will deal with the pre-war GP Alfa's. Must be something to look forward to. Regards, Mick
That has to be such a fun show to attend. I will get to it soon. I have the 06885 book and it is very nice. Interesting idea in publishing. Simon Moore has been talking about the GP book for a few years. If it is half as good as his 2.3 and 2.9 books it will be wonderful. Does anyone know if there will be a US distributor for "Ferrari Fever" and "Postcard from Maranello"? Thanks. Jack
Amongst the many nonsense publications in the Ferrari arena, I should mention that 'Ferrari Fever' by Paul Schouwenburg stands out as a very fine and personal recollection. Whatever people may think of him, he was very much ahead of his time, recognizing diamonds where many others just saw rusty old cars. He deserves great respect for that.
Hi, does anyone know anything about these two books? Maranello e il Suo Museo – Tra Storia, Presente e Futuro and Enzo Ferrari & Maranello both are from Banca Popolare dell’Emilia Romagna If so, any idea as to value. These are recent books, published within the last few years. Thank you for any information you might be able to provide.
Jack, the sole distributor of the postcard-book will indeed be Hortons. Hortons has however also a US department. You should contact them. You can also contact "Piloti" here on this board. He can certainly answer most of your questions regarding these books. Best, Maarten
I have both. These books were given to Banco Popolare group customers (dell' Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Venezia, Piemonte, Tuscany, Liguria...) Check eBay.it to find them.
Worth the buy. Lot of interesting (vintage+modern) pics. Italian text (Enzo Ferrari & Maranello) Italian + English text (Maranello e il suo museo).
Would anybody here know if the books from the 2012 ferrari challenge races have any value? I have a couple autographed by the drivers and have considered putting them on eBay. I know they are not big money items but not sure if there is a market for them.
"Maranello e il Suo Museo Tra Storia, Presente e Futuro" - is a large book - 318 pgs - good quality glossy paper. Lots of photos, mainly modern. There are a few nice b/w photos but not many. I also have "Enzo Ferrari & Maranello" by mine is by Banco Popolare di Fondi. Could be the same as you're asking about? This is another large book - 317pgs - good quality glossy paper. This book has more early b/w photos and IMHO is a more interesting book than "Maranello e il Suo Museo Tra Storia, Presente e Futuro". It covers a much wider variety of topics. Hope this helps Nathan
Just a small correction - the book is also available from; Shopping F1 - email [email protected] Mario Acquati - email [email protected] Nathan
Mick It was a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your nice comments. The photo shows Dave Williams (author of 06885, and layout designer of "A Postcard from Maranello") and myself with the limited edition burgundy version (only 30 copies) of "A Postcard from Maranello". Nathan- It is the same book. All of the Banco Popolare group offered this book. Only the names on the dustjackets are different.
Ferrari Fever arrived to me from Hortons this morning...quick flick through and looks to be excellent, really great images and a lot of text to absorb. I ordered my Postcard From Maranello book earlier this week (from Hortons), very much looking forward to this also. # 31 to match my copy of the Sales Drive from Maranello book. I guess we'll have to start a registry of the Beehl/Stern books a la the Making a Difference thread here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/collectables-literature-models/113383-making-difference.html Paul
