I'm still trying to get my head around the math ! You never pay to much, just buy to soon ! I talked to Porsche and they had the color code at 99 and interior code at 97 for vin # 236 Door code on the car said 264 not sure why they do not match,but after meeting the guy and him telling me the story of how he got the car gave me pause ! Very happy that the car when that high !! Great job Paul look froward to seeing it after your done !!
Ed, the info Porsche gave you was correct except they should have told you '999' (paint to sample) vs. '99'. The paint to sample number on the door plate was Emerald Green metallic - 264. '97' is the correct interior code for a 1978 930 with white interior with black dash/rear shelf/window sills.

Tremendous knowledge here. I have owned 3 930's and don't have close to the knowledge that exists among more than a few of the posters here!!! But, I am learning!!!
Some of the posters here went to see the Viper Green '78 with the VIN ending in 236. Hopefully someone can share some important info for us. Can someone identify if it a North American or RoW 930? Did anyone take note of the manufacture date from the door jamb sticker? By 1978 a non-optioned Sunroof/Passenger Mirror 930 was pretty scarce but certainly much more so for a NA car. By 1978 I thought that most if not all States were requiring 2 mirrors. As this looked to be a NA 930, I was expecting to see a lower serial number because I thought that maybe a few came into the US very early without the passenger side mirrors. Maybe it is a #930880 Canadian car? Can anyone share when Passenger Mirrors became mandatory in the States? Bud

To my knowledge, there was no U.S. federal or state law for passenger mirrors in 1978 or 1979. For 930's and 911SC's, the option code for “heated outside mirror right” was “261” and you still had to pony up an extra $110 for the option even on the very last 1979 U.S. models (in my case ’79, #1164). The viper green car must have been special ordered so the customer was probably not a dealer (dealers tended to add sunroof, right mirror and limited slip) and they wisely opted for no sunroof and right mirror and saved almost $1000 that would have easily paid for the ultra cool PTS color. The '97" white and black interior was standard (no extra charge) but the customer also wisely opted for sport seats (L/R) for an extra $300.
Rich, My 79 #0395 also came with the right outside mirror as option #261. The invoice cost in 4/79 was $95. Bus
