Had to share my latest find. One of the many missing links in Dinoland. Italian dirt included Amazing that these things still pop up, and fortunately not many noticed its availability. Regards, Alberto Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unfortunately, or conversely, fortunately, the seller did not deal in this sort of item and was selling it for a friend. It was a harrowing 9 days and zero bids. As I do not believe anything anymore, I bid hugely (well, largely) and lucky me that I did, as out of nowhere came out a bid from another unlucky bidder at the last second, almost trebling the initial starting price. I only hope it was not another Dino companion, but someone that was after the hub as the ad was for that, no mention of the Dino button. Yay! We have a saying: "What belongs to you, it will, what doesn't, will not" Regards, Alberto PS. Thank you Matthias and Luigi!
PS. I am not aware of what is missing to make the horn work, but I believe there is something else that should go in the hub. If anyone has a photo, please post it. Regards, Alberto
Hindsight is always 20/20 and in this case I wish I knew now what I did'nt know then. That's right I was the 'other guy' and I feel bad having driven up the price on you. That said I am thrilled that you got it brining you all the closer to finishing your L series. Nice to see the part going to a worthwhile home.
Thank you Rob for the kind words, and actually you did not drive the price up as much as I thought. It was a fair fight. I like that. Nothing worse than a 'Canadian standoff' eh? Worse, it is not something that you'd post on Dino chat, while the auction was on, as it would have been suicidal. My daughter just brought it today, even though it ended on Dec. 21st. and it is my toy for the day. Amazing what thrills grown men I had tried to seduce the 'middleman' into closing off the auction to no avail, he was right and his friend got a good deal, even though neither knew what they sold in Dino terms. At the end, they were both very happy as the hub was well rewarded. My wife thinks I should polish the alloy ring, what do you think? Patina / Not? Regards, Alberto
You have it all! the horn contact is embedded in a rubber sleeve in the top of the steering column shaft with a wire that runs down it. They are available, I have a few of them. I'll send you a photo... Actually, there's a cup missing for the spring seat, I might have that too
Pictures would be wonderful since I also believe I'm missing a part or two in my horn button assembly. Alberto you need to polish that ring....It will sit there right in front of you and make you wonder when to polish it anyway if you don't...Good catch..- Peter
