I have a 2000 360 / stick. I just put in a new Odyssey battery. I followed the key position 2 procedure before attempting to start. The dash lights up and the OK lights. When I push the remote to disarm the alarm system, the red led light on the dash continues to blink, nothing happens when the key is turned to the start position. The battery in the remote is new. Am I missing a procedure? I pressed the remote button 3 times within 15 seconds, nothing changed. Also, I checked all of the fuses and they are all ok. How do I resolve this?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Couple of quick checks before I run out of knowledge

The main battery change should not affect things

Does your fob also light up ?

Have you tried using a different fob ?

    Flamesuit on.........

Reading your post, I have to say that it appeards that you are pushing the remote key with the ignition lights on on the dash? The fob only works with key off.

tried the remotes with the key out, still no go. the red lights on the remotes did light up. I did notice the blinking red dash slowed down when I pushed the remote button but it didn't stay on.

If the red light on the fob doesn't light up when you press it then the fob is more than likely the culprit. Some have opened theirs up and cleaned the contacts on the button. You may want to try that.

You've not mentioned how many remotes you have. Try the other, bear in mind a number of pushes may be required to catch up on the rolling code. Several threads about that. Also sounds as though the siren is out, time to buy the Corvette replacement. (National Vette museum may have some parts cars...........LOL)

Open the FOB, clean the battery contacts and try reversing the battery inside. The little light on the FOB should come on. If you have a spare FOB you can try that out pushing it a few times until it synchs..

Definitely not the case on the 99 in my shop right now, nor Porkers. Nor Lambos thinking about it. Neither will it start with a generic OBD scanner plugged in for some reason, ask me how I know

Brian mentioned the siren may be out. How does this play into the issue?? I was thinking it was related to a signal issue. Why would a fob stop working, even with a new battery?
I'm not seeing any comments about the signal issue after replacing the car battery.
I'll try pushing the spare FOB a few more times.

Brian, tell me more about how the siren plays into this?

Sorry, didn't mean to get you off topic. ASiren has NO affect, just an observation when it works, the two beeps are often i better signal that things are reset in the immobiliser.

Really sounds like the codes are out of sync

Had that happen once on a friends 360... get out of the car, arm the alarm and watch the doors lock. disarm/unlock doors then try to start again.

The statement is not true for a 360 with F1. I follow this procedure to start our 360 when we don't want the 'beep, beep'. I cannot validate the same operation for a 3-pedal 360 though.

Same here on my old 99 F1. When I would leave the car unlocked the immobilizer woudl rearm so prcoedure was...

    1) Key to on.
    2) Push button on remote and watch dash light, wait for it to turn from slow blinking to on (I think that was light behavior)
    3) Start car.

Just solved my issue. take both red and black fobs to the car, press red fob then press
black fob. make sure when you press red fob that it locks and unlock on each press.
It takes 10 to 20 times before they sync. should also fix your problem.

The fobs all have independent rolling codes the Alarm ECU recognizes. So unless you have a cloned fob, no synchronization should be required. Changing the car's battery should not affect fob operation at all. Assuming, of course, the battery disconnect switch was used during the battery change so nothing was fried during installation.

Pinching the fob battery contacts together cures many ills, followed by spinning the battery with your finger to clean off any corrosion. I even use a battery terminal treatment applied with a toothpick to ensure no corrosion on the contacts.

Some of you guys are getting close to voodoo, but whatever works, like the Bud Light commercials say.

There is a simple drive cycle test that works well after the disconnect switch is used.

Turn off all accessories like the A/C and radio.

Insert key and leave for 30 seconds.

Turn the ignition on and leave for 30 seconds.

Turn the ignition off and leave for 30 seconds.

Turn ignition on, wait for Check OK, and start engine.

Let idle with no input at all for 10 minutes.

Turn accessories on if needed and drive gently for 10-20 minutes.

This is derived from several different Ferrari sources and seems to cover all the bases. Simpler than the actual drive cycle requiring various speeds, stops, etc.

N.G., I just tried it and no go!

I just switched the battery off. I'm going to see if I can reboot it!

I can use any other suggestions!

When the vehicle battery is run down or disconnected it puts a strain on the alarm module battery as it has to take the load. If the unit is dodgy it can kill off the batteries, cause them to leak and eat the circuit board.

A faulty siren unit can cause the car to fail to start.

I would disconnect the alarm siren module and see will it start when you do that. It probably will!
