I did 322 km/h with my italia.
My Italia did 338 kph on the speed-indicator. Might be difficult to go faster in the Speciale, as drag-coeficient is slightly higher. Time will tell...
Just a reality check...don't confuse indicated speed with actual speed. At that level, there is a significant margin of "optimism" built in the 458 speedo. The last 458 I saw at the Mojave Mile could only manage 193 with a fierce tailwind...
Fastest I've gone is 152mph in my old 458 Italia. Fastest I've gone in my new Spider i somewhere between 125-130 mph. I am looking forward to tracking the Spider and hopefully getting close to 200 mph!
New Ferraris have very accurate speedos. At an indicated 340 kph, the car's actual speed is 330 kph. QR magazine tested that.
Sorry, I just can't imagine doing these speeds on a public road, let alone taking a picture of it while I am doing it....
Ah, good point! Still, a very risky proposition in an uncontrolled environment....and looking down to take a photo? (Unless they were taken by the passenger?) Still, for me, those speeds are for the track
Tach reads 8700 RPM. Assuming stock wheels, tires, and gearing, and no tire expansion at high speeds, this works out to 326 kph. That is very small speedometer error indeed.
I agree. You always have to factor in the stupidity of others. I come from germany and have learned how to drive there. Whenever I am at high speeds I dont even take a glance at the speedo or even thinking about taking a picture
At Road America during the FCA event this past August during which I was an instructor, my student got to 165 in his 458 on the front straight. For his first time being there that was very impressive.
True. Fastest I've ever got was 170 in a gt3 at Watkins glen. Had a great run up the esses and carried the speed all the way to the bus stop. Was fast enough for me considering the bus stop entry is around 80. It was a cool day, new tires and a light fuel load. I am imagine a more skilled driver in a 458 might get even more speed .
I agree, save those speeds for the track. I got a 599 up to about 170/175 on the back straight at Palm Beach during Cavallino a few years ago. Next lap I had a break failure (boiled fluid) and had to take the runoff. There is a reason we do these speeds on the track and not on public roads. Had that been a public road it's very possible I would not be here right now writing this.......... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Most probably you wouldn't have had the brake-problem on public roads... On early Sunday morning you can go any speed on the Autobahn as nobody will be around. Plus no straight will be long enough to reach topspeed, except maybe in Le Mans without the chicanes...
Exactly. Fluid boiled over because it was on the track. The Autobahn by my house is unrestricted and I can get to 330+ easily anytime I want to because it's never busy w nice straight runs. 260 is cruising speed between home and my office. Gesendet von meinem iPhone mit Tapatalk
Yes i totally agree driving in germany on Autoban's especailly on the weekend is awesome. You can get average 140-155 mph most of the time. I think most drivers in germany are used to highspeed driving and know not to be in the fast lane unless they are really going faster than average speed
Nope if you own a ferrari/lambo/Buggati in Dubai and get caught speeding i think a 100 Dhiram 'sweetner' should do the trick
