As a compliment to the "Best Ferrari driver ever" thread... Discuss. I'll start in modern times and throw under the safety car... Giancarlo Fisichella.
I think there's been worse than Fisi, 0 points in F1 but a couple of Ferrari wins in GT racing must give him some credit.
I think Luca Badoer takes the prize...but i still like and admire him, i believe his job as Ferrari test driver over all those years was very important and i prefer to remenber him that way.
Worst Ferrari driver ever is a bit ambiguous no? I would say the worst driver is this fellow I hear about through a mechanic who stated he went through 3 clutches in 20,000 miles.
Well this is in the F1 section,... But if you really didn't get it... I'll make note to be more clear in the future,... just for you! Of course,... I'll make sure to hold you to the same standard.
Badoer was just a tester? If that is the criteria of a Ferrari driver, Valentino Rossi [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ID7a5O-9_D8]MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi tests 2008 Ferrari F1 in Spain - YouTube[/ame]
To be fair with Badoer, he got into the car after years without racing, without almost no previous testing... It was not such an easy job. Fisichella was not really much better, and he got experience with 2009 cars. Yes, Badoer also didn´t get any points... but look at the cars he had to drive. He would have gotten some remarkable results with mediocre material if he hadn´t suffered inopportune mechanical failures.
I kid of course haha. Was worth a laugh. I agree with Luca Badoer, but not specifically because he was a bad driver per se, he was a test driver who was placed in a position he had never really been in before, so not entirely his fault.
Although Fisichella's brief time in a Ferrari was far from successful, I contend that his experience speaks more to problems with the 2009 car than Fisichella himself. All the blame heaped upon Raikkonen for that lackluster year was probably unjustified. My impression was that the car was impossible, it would understeer and oversteer in the same corner and no matter what they tried could never keep heat in the front tires. It is ironic that both Fisichella and Raikkonen drove spectacularly at Spa that year. I am certain that when Fisi first stepped into that Ferrari at Monza, he must have wondered how Kimi kept him at bay.
Fisi is really a tragic character. After the drive of his career at Spa he couldn't resist the opportunity to drive for Ferrari, though had he stayed at Force India he probably would have been on the podium at Monza.
None can hold a candle to this guy: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM7psk-1E4A]Justin Bieber Stops Traffic To Confront Paparazzi! drive driving Crazy Ferrari - YouTube[/ame]
well there have been a few in F-1, but someone who does poorly in F- 1 can do well in sports cars Chris Amon Mike Parkes Guintini Capelli I dont think its fair to include people who only drove 1-2 -3 races for Ferrari they really never got a chance
I think it's unfair to Badoer to label him so just for the 09 performance when Fisichella didn't do much better in the same car after almost having beaten Ferrari at Spa in the force India. Credit to Massa and Kimi for driving it as well as they did. Did Badoer lose his test driver role after that season? I know Fisi stayed with the F1 team after 2010.
The cars were rubbish in the Amon days (using sports car based engines). His greatest skill was changing to a team just when it was about to produce a dud car ... Enzo rated him very highly though, but that might have more to do with his conquests with the opposite sex. Pete
If you guys don't quit this thread I'm going to put up that photo of the guy driving the wooden F50 as the worst F driver.
