I saw a few of these RHD cars when they were new and I never saw one with Gold wheels, certainly not 4814,4816,4818 ,4828 and I think 4812 was silver, the only one I recall having gold was the silver car 4820, I only ever saw your white car with silver wheels

4826 had gold wheels and sills. White 4830 also originally had gold wheels and sills and is how it was bought in 1976. Did 4818 have silver wheels when you saw it with Rod Stewart when you had your Marcos?

    Thanks Joe,
Not that much around... over the 150 produced, none LHD are for sale actually.

Does it mean that owners keep them waiting for higher market value, or because they will regret to have sold their "toy" ?

Silver wheels, Red spinners and cills,we are going to retake the picture 40 years on when the weather improves. I still have an orange Marcos and 4818 is at Colin's which is just up the road from me.

Cool! With Rod too? There were some magazine articles about 4818 in the nineties and it had gold wheels and sills. There's a short video somewhere in this thread of Rod driving it and the outer rims look polished with red spinners?

The owner after Rod Stewart was Mark Walker ,he had the car painted yellow with gold wheels, when he brought the car it was Black with polished rims, the car left Stewart in late 1986 and was advertised by a dealer in London {Michael Fisher, see Super Car Classics Mag} Mark kept the car until around 2000 when it was sold at Bonhams Goodwood and went to collector Andrew Pisker who had it restored at the factory ,he kept it for a few years before it was sold to Hong Kong,it is now back in the UK with a new owner who has got Colin Clarke sorting out a few bits to make it perfect

Thanks. There's an extract from a recent book on line where Rod is quoted as saying he sold this Miura for £9,000. If true he certainly got "done" good and proper.

All I can say is that I would feel 10X more confident in a $2M purchase for a Miura SV than say an Enzo or some of the other cars bringing that crazy money these days. Historically this is an important important car and it gives the Lambo marque the credibility it deserves with big money collectors. After all, this is where the cars are going ultimately. Big money guys.

Yes a serious collector looking to place $50 million can do so easily with the Ferrari marque alone. Its a reason why the Ferraris trade well over the decades.

These Lambos are underrated, plain and simple. Would you rater roll around in a Miura with carbs behind your head, or a Lusso with 4 speeds??? I think that answer is simple.

In my view as the younger generations grow up, the countachs and Miuras of the world will become top of the list for collectors looking into vintage cars.

Maybe the older guys with money cant quite handle the experience of one and are looking for that older GT style? I believe this actually could be true in some way. If your looking into 60's-70's cars, nothing really matches what Lambo was doing. They started a new category called supercars for fu** sake.

An SV at $2M may one day look like a steal in my estimation. No I don't own one.... SIGH!!!

I'd rather not speculate, people keep, or sell, for a wide range of reasons.

The market for a car like the Enzo is significantly larger than that for the SV, and that accounts for some value stability. I'd say safety in values between the 2 cars if the market corrects, is the same.

I specialize in both, and whereas I occasionally get someone committed to buying an SV, I always have a list of people looking for an Enzo. As if to underscore this, I find it takes much longer to place an SV than it does to place an Enzo.

You can't compare the 2 cars. They were built in competely different eras, and have a completely different scope of usability! I have clients who have both, and they treat them very differently.

What's relatively similar are their values, as you point out. In fact, in the last 3 or 4 years they have charted pretty much the same ascent, as these results from my auction notes show:

    8/2010 - RM Monterey - 1971 SV - $825,000

    10/2010 - RM London - 1972 SV - $1,108,660

    1/2011 - Gooding Scottsdale - 1971 SV - $990,000

    3/2011 - Gooding Amelia - 1971 SV Prototype - $1,705,000

    10/2011 - RM London - 1972 SV - $1,120,000 (high-bid, no sale)

    1/2012 - Gooding Scottsdale - 1971 SV - $1,100,000

    8/2012 - Gooding Monterey - 1972 SV - $1,375,000

I also find that the best examples of either type of car don't need to come to the advertised market and consequently change hands for more than cars typically bring at auction.

    Best,

Funny anecdote - an 18 year old relative of mine came into the shop last week to ogle at the cars, most of which were built 25 years before he was even born.

He took a quick look around, walked right past the Miura and the other Italian stuff, and made a B line for a 71 Skyline GTR.

Never underestimate the power of Playstation! LOL!

Interesting,my twenty two year old son has just brought an Audi TT sport, he also has a Noble M12,and access to my collection of Lamborghini and Lotus,he has got more reaction from owning the Audi from his friends of the same age than any of the other cars that includes the Miura,so may we should not underestimate the Power of the Playstation

Stephen, maybe his friends don't get the allure of the Miura, but I'm sure your son does!

We've always shared the cars with the kids without hesitation (as I'm sure have) and I'm confident those Miura Memories run deep!

Pics from a decade ago & more include the Prototype USA SV, the Last USA SV, and the ex-Shah of Iran SV.

Popular culture changes things, this is why its important to share the cars.

Couldn't agree more. Kids "get" Miuras. I did Sporting Bears Dream Rides years ago at the NEC and the majority of my passengers in 4812 were sub 25. They definitely knew the significance of these cars to the DNA of modern supercars.
