I think they look cool, in the F355, even they are Challenge Seats from 360. Look almost the same....
I enjoy it very much, trouble is getting on and out is a bit difficult than the standard seat. But since its a weekend car so I guess I am happy with this swap .

I think they look great. But consider installing a slider. It'll make getting in and out of your car much easier.

I know that we're talking about a 355 but I tried to do this with my 348 using the stock slider mounted to the OMP 348 Challenge seats. Even positioning the seats at their lowest setting in the mounting brackets, my head was hitting the headliner - and I'm only 6' 0". YMMV, but the sliders seemed to elevate the Challenge seats a bit too high to be usable - though I didn't try to engineer a clever solution. I'd be curious if others have gotten these seats or the 355 Challenge seats to work with the OEM mounting brackets mounted to sliders - and if so, what height are they?

I'm 5' 9" Mark. My seat is positioned at its lowest setting in the brackets. Without additional cushions on my seat and with my helmet on, I have ~ 1.5 inches clearance from the headliner with the slider installed.

The OP won't be wearing a helmet. The slider should be OK for him if he's about my height.

With the help from F chatters, my OMP challenge seats have been finally fitted. The f355 feels extremely sportier with such modifications. Problem is a bit difficult of getting in and out. Since this is only a weekend car so I guess I can cope with it.

Has anybody that has a Spider replaced their seats with aftermarket ?
Using a OMP or Sparco type seat, thinking electric seat adjustment might be an issue, or the fact lowering the top and having both seats move forward might create a problem.
If you have or know someone who has any info would be appreciated.

I'm installing my 348 Challenge seats (Mark's former seats) in my Challenge car (Mark's former car) in the next week or so and I'll make a note of it. The Challenge seats are installed with brackets and not sliders so you can make them lower if need be. Not sure how low I'll put them but I'll look.

Great to know, Rob. I only have the diagram that shows the direct mounting. Would I need that flat bracket on the bottom or do the side mounts go right on the sliders?

Rob, they bolted right up to the sliders as you suggested. The whole thing looks and works great (still fiddling with the belt adjustment so pardon the extra). Here is a pic.

Those look nice, but I'm curious as to why the slots for the crotch straps were deleted when the seats were reupholstered.

My 355 had Momo seat, but not sure if that was put in car for Earle or Martinez. I still have the seat, but use in my living room. :) Have updated new seats in car now.

You would have to ask someone else about that. The slots are still in their respective places on the shells but the foam and leather was done over them. This was how I received them and they seem quite adequate as-is for street use. Also of note, they're very comfortable.

    Ryan,

Can you show us some photos of your roll bar in the car? How does the rear separate from the rest of the "full cage". Did it require cutting or changes away from the rest of the full cage?

    Thanks.

It's a bolt together cage so no cutting necessary. Besides, I would never cut a factory cage as I could have my race car fabricator just build a hoop. The factory challenge cars have the plates to accept the car already welded in. On the 348 factory challenge cars, the upholstery is cut so that you can remove covering plates on the shelf and fold back the access cuts in the carpeting. As a result, the bar look like it is a factory installed option, which it sort of is.

I only installed the back part of the cage, which is a single piece and sits well behind the seats. The remaining pieces are sitting on my office floor. I wouldn't put a full cage in a street car unless I was planning on wearing a helmet on the street.
