with the new multimedia system present or something new that they will present at the Geneva Motor Show?
I was prepared for a dismal experience with the multimedia system in my new FF. After all, the automotive "journalists" had panned it, poking fun at the cheap Chrysler system. Instead I have found it quite good and easy to use, relative to my BMW system. I chalk it up to another journalistic misrepresentation.
Its getting good reviews in the Ghibli and Q porte. I'm sure they will "refine it" and customize it for the CA but the bones I bet are there from the Chrysler system. I really don't care because the Italians suck in this area generally. As long as it works well, who the hell cares where it comes from.
Why should F reinvent the wheel when there are perfectly good wheels available and they are not that good at wheels anyway?
The muti media system and whilst I could be wrong, from everything I have learnt over the recent past, I think it will be a real step forward, class beating. Why else the Apple board director is the logic?
Ha! I thought I was alone in my lack of respect for Apple's software. Ironically for the guys that invented the easy-to-use UI, they have lost the plot somewhere (although IOS 7 is an improvement). Sorry. No Thread Drift!
arizonaitalian, while TheMayor's comment was legit, I think you need a lesson in IT history. FYI, the original iTunes was NOT an Apple product. It was called SoundJam and was only designed to manage MP3 music from an MP3 player called RIO. Steve Jobs bought SoundJam and had the developers improve the user interface to make it easier for users to use. Steve Jobs got it done and beat everyone to the punch. While I agree the iTunes user interface still sucks, it wasn't Apple's invention and iTunes software was originally only designed to manage music sound tracks, hence "i"+Tunes. iTunes and the Apple iTunes store concept have completely revolutionized the music industry and Apple smoked everyone in the music and computer industries, including Bill Gates/Microsoft. You can read about it HERE. If Apple does have an input to future Fcar infotainment systems, we can be assured that it will be very special.

Something tells me it will take a very short while before we have a 600/625 Tuned Cali. As Macca have demonstrated and as we all know massaging turbos is not that demanding, especially if you throw the mpg figures to the side.
Gentlemen, I think it all depends on the 458-replacement's performance specs. The California T must stay below that just like it's already grudgingly staying below the current 458's performance specs, for good reasons. So I believe it's a marketing issue, not a technical issue. Let's see where the market pushes Ferrari to take the "next-458".
Thanks for the lesson, I don't know much about technology, and silicon valley firms in general, so its impossible for me to say how much I appreciate your lesson.
I never liked the California, but this looks really promising. The engine is fascinating, and the looks are much improved. Good job, Ferrari.

you know, I'm a bit perplexed by the deluge of comments from all the haters of the previous California who now approve of what is essentially a (granted, nicely) refreshed car. the visual changes are not all that dramatic and as some have mentioned, indistinguishable to non-tifosi. before you get all panties in a knot, I too like the new design better overall (with some minor exceptions, such as the rear with horizontal tailpipes and diffuser looking too busy) I wonder if all the sudden approvals come as a result of the markedly improved performance (i.e., just a touch shy of the 458) making the new Cali an acceptable "mans' car"?? what do current owners think?
Here's some additional information regarding the car's performance dynamics gleaned from the factory's announcement webpage. Looks like they may have reduced the steering ratio and tweaked the chassis with some sort of active suspension. " The engines powerful performance also boosts the California Ts authentic sports car dynamics. The resulting reduced steering wheel activity, improved steering wheel responsiveness to driver input and more directly handling do not impinge in any way on its exceptional ride comfort, however. The latter comes courtesy, in fact, of a new steering box and a new mechanical set-up whereby springs and latest-generation Magnaride dampers combine with body motion accelerometers to significantly reduce roll and pitch. "
What they've done is given it 458 stuff. It's much closer to the 458 now than it was before. Looks to me like Magnaride is now standard like 458, which is a good move. 458 also has quicker steering. I wonder if it's hydraulic or electric.
