    I had a 2014 458 Italia that I just recently traded for a 2012 Spider. Got tired of waiting and got a pretty good deal....very happy. Question is about the MSRP and the Gas Guzzler Tax... My Italia did not show gas guzzler tax so I assume that it was included in the Base Price. The 2012 Spider did not have the original sticker so the dealer just did a calculation to calculate what the sticker was. When he did it, he used a base price of $257,412, added all the options, and then $2,600 for the Gas Guzzler Tax... Is that right?

    To me, the $257,412 already includes the tax, so seems like it is double counted...but the dealer assured me that, in 2012, they added it as a line item on the sticker. Does anyone have a copy of a 2012 sticker so I can see how it was done?

    Gas guzzler tax is only on the sale of a new car.

    There is none on a used car.

    I live in NJ and that is what I experienced, should be the same in CA, as it is a Federal Gas Guzzler TAX.

    Yes you are correct. We used the original MSRP as the basis for our negotiation. Just wondering if the dealer inflated that price with the GG tax.

    I have 2013 Spider pricing and the $257,412 base price did not include the gas guzzler tax. There are separate line items for gg tax of $2,600 and for transportation of $3,750.
