Going to be in Key West one day this coming week & will have all of maybe 5 hours to poke around with my wife.

So... For someone who has never visited, what is a defiinate MUST (or list of MUSTS) to take in?

Kinda tame during hte day, but Duval Street and the cruise ship docking area is good people watching and a way to kill a couple hours. It's the kind of place to just walk around and take in all the flavor of the area

Depends on what you like. There is the Hemingway house. The light house. Bars. Piers. Rent a moped and crusie around. It's an easy place to kill a few hours for sure.

A lot of good ideas, but can't drink, as I'll be driving at the end of the visit & nightlife is out, as exit is 5 pm sharp. Guess I'll just sit at wherever we enter the place & stare at the sun.

Plenty if places to sit. And plenty of things to stare at other than the sun. If you like to people watch, anywhere in town will work. Grab some Key Like pie and enjoy yourself.

If you don't mind me asking what exactly are you doing down there? Are you driving down from the "main land" hanging out for 5 hours and then drving back? The drive each way is 3 hrs or so...sounds like a long day...

Didn't pee in public, but we DID take the Conch train.

Day was basically - 3 hours on Key West Express boat from Ft Myers, Arrive in KW around noon. Rode the Conch Train around for a bit over an hour or so - that gives you a pretty fair look at a good bit of the island. After that, we stopped at a place called "Red Fish Blue Fish" for lunch - had an awesome gulf shrimp po'boy and a few $5 margaritas. Another couple hours walking around & people watching, and back on the express to Ft Myers.

Not sure I'd recommend the place as a 1 day trip, but would probably be a lot of fun if you had 2 or 3 overnights.

Those cats have SIX toes :)

Went by the Mile Marker 0 buoy and grabbed a photo on the fly. Wife thought it was cool, but didn't mean much to me.

From what I saw, the Fisher treasure museum/shop is still up and running.

Probably the niftiest things I saw were a nice Jag XKE (hardtop) parked in a garage and one of the biggest iguanas I've ever seen walking around.

Not sure that would fit into the "only a few hours to kill" theme... :)
