Parking brake doesnt work Hi guys my 1982 308 GTSI parking brake wont pull up it is stuck in place in the down position. I have unhooked the cable at both ends one at the parking brake and one at the rear of the car. I have tried using vise grips to pull the cable back and forth but nothing feels like cable is welded to the inside of the tube. Any suggestions on breaking it loose or what can it be? Thanks
You can try to remove the enter console and maybe you can see if something is jamming the hand brake lever. Also remove the passenger side seat where you can see the cable entering to the hand brake lever and work from there.
how did you break it loose? mine is stuck also. I tried pulling it with a chain hoist, wouldn't budge.
Back in the "old days", jumps were made into a pea-gravel pit. The gravel was potentially just the right size to jam a ripcord in the housing on a subsequent jump if not removed during repacking. I was a rigger in a previous life. Main canopies are typically packed by the owner, sometimes in a bit of a hurry. Attention to detail varies. Fortunately, times and equipment has changed.
Hey DANCER308 I used an air chisel very gently First i squirted some WD40 in the line and blew it with an air hose 4 a couple days to kinda soak the cable.
i hade the center console out and used the air chisel from the inside of the car to chisel the cable loose
I hope mine doesn't get stuck bc that's pretty heavy duty-but hey I guess if shows how solid these cars actually were built
