My local State Farm agent is telling me the highest deductable he can write on comp and collision is $1,000 whether it is on the Ferraris or other cars. I was thinking of becoming more self insured and raising the deductable.

Has anyone else had experience with this at State Farm?

    Thanks,

    Drew

I haven't checked with our State Farm agent recently, but I was interested in doing the same thing. As I recall, the money saved from 1000 to a 2000 deductible wasn't worthwhile.

Look into raising your home insurance deductible; ours is 1% of the homes value. That turned out to be enough savings to 'self insure'.

I've never heard of a deductible higher than $1,000. I would doubt you will find it either, no matter what insurance company you try.

I think of State Farm, Farmers, Allstate, etc as cookie cutter insurers. They do what is normal/common just fine. When you want to start getting creative they don't always know how to or have a way to do that. A higher end company is probably more able to handle non standard items/ideas.

Home owners is where there is flexibility.
