    Can I keep my regular plates if I order it? I want to use the personalized plates for another vechicle

    In Texas you can move them to another car if you sell the one the personalized plates are on. They belong to you until you let them expire, then someone else can grab that plate number, but of nobody does, you can reuse them later I believe.

    Go to your local tax office and make sure the plates correspond with the specific vehicle and VIN.

    I have a question too! I'll just ask it here so a new thread isn't created.

    In Texas, can we purchase custom license plates and hold them without putting them on a car? To reserve the name? Can we do this with multiple plates? Or multiple people in the same family at least?

    Yes you can but you will have to re-register the vehicle for the standard issue plates. If you felt like running your custom plates for say a car show/event you can do so just as long as they have not expired.

    I just spoke with a TXDOT rep and this information, one could say, is "directly from the horses mouth".
