TG Season 21 in less than a week . . .

Great news! I just hope it's not 5 episodes, and they call it a 'season'

 

It'll be 7. Then back around July/August time again.

TBH I don't mind their shorter seasons now. If they where doing 12/14 episodes a season it'll get old and tedious. Now they can test all the most exciting bits and keep it from getting old and quickly cancelled...

I also recommend everyone to watch their latest DVD!

First episode was very weak.

 

It really was. First time i actually stopped half way as it was really boring and so fake that i felt my time was better spent going to the supermarket.

Nothing, other than the message of support to Schumi was good.

 

The series has been in decline for a while -- maybe the formula's getting stale, and the stunts are kind of contrived and juvenile.

Their best segments have been on classics (MB 280 SL, Lamborghini retrospective, driving bargain exotics to the lap dancing club in Slough) or things like the Peel P50.

Hope they can get their momentum back. It used to be the best thing on tv.

 

Is the first one about old vs new hot hatchbacks? I have that one set to record on monday but did i already miss one this week? Thanx

 

That's the one. That was Ep1. This sunday is Ep2 with the Mclaren P1.

 

definitely not enough episodes each yr. they should switch to 30 mins each without the skits and just focus on their typical irreverent tests, comparos, news, etc.

save the skits for a few 'special' 60 min episodes/yr

 

Yes. F'ing hilarious .

The skits are exactly what makes Top Gear great. If they just review cars it'll ruin it and they'll be just like any other car show.

I like TG, even now. Yes episodes are weaker but I sure as hell enjoy it much more than dreary stuff like 5th gear. With TG I can turn my brain off and laugh at poor jokes and the 9 year old behavior by Clarkson & Co. It's exactly the appeal of top gear.

For serious car stuff I follow the /Drive channel on youtube, specifically Chris Harris' stuff. Honest reviews and still powerslides everywhere.

I can't stand their thick British accent, and how Tiff think the Mclaren F1 is the greatest car ever made in the history of mankind.

I like TG for their humour, sometimes the seriousness, etc. The bond those 3 dudes share is really good.

However, some of it is just silly. I didn't fancy the supermarket thing. I didn't fancy those military vehicles. How is that applicable to normal people?

However, the last episode which i watched last night was good. 3 small cars to Chernobyl.

P/S : I can't wait for comparisons between the P1 and the 918. Hopefully they will test La Ferrari this season too...

 

If we're lucky we'll get the LaF in season 22. Clarkson will have a friend somewhere who'll borrow him his...

 

Today's episode was fantastic. Great cars in every segment. Loved the end. I really really want a G63 6x6 no matter how ridiculous that thing is.

 

Which episode? The one with the jet ski & the Alfa, or after that?
