Look what I've found. http://www.epicski.com/t/69076/more-retro-memories/4170#post_1427677 Apparently from Skiing Mag Sept 1970. These would look great sitting atop a ski rack on black or white Espada at a concours! Wish I'd have had this setup on all my sojourns to Mad Riven Glen and Killington back in those days. Come to think of it, this is more of a Mt Snow kind of deal ... snow bunnies and all And some more! http://www.ebay.com/itm/rare-NOS-Vintage-SKI-LAMBORGHINI-from-the-70-s-never-used-Decor-for-your-chalet-/201032743436?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ece7c3a0c Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was going through some old photos tonight and thought I'd share these three, all taken during our 1000mile trip back to the UK from the Lamborghini 50th celebrations. First photo shows just how low the Espada is compared to today's SUVs. Next is an overhead shot, to show the crazy roof-light on my Espada. The last shot is a Lamborghini lock-out outside the Monaco Casino the night we were there. Suspect it's been quite a while since an Espada has been seen parked there.. I love it. If it were any longer it would need to postal codes... Gary 8394 Image Unavailable, Please Login

Espada Gods After conversations with Ansa rep here and Mr. Fiat ( also Ansa rep ?) and Gary Bobileff , I decided to have RM Restoration in Chatham Ontario( yes that RM) take my muffler packs and rebuild completely. After looking at what Ansa sells it NOT the same and NOT accurate to the originals as they have taken liberties with the size of the muffler pack and the Y pipe is completely different now as well. Also the pack no longer contains the steel Ansa ID plate welded on nor the cool Lamborghini plate so I passed on new stuff . I will say right off Gary B also does a fine job of this task ( I've seen his work and the photo essay on how he carries this out )and if were not for the massive shipping on heavy items there and back and duties and taxes I would have incurred I would have chosen him for the job for sure. So with that I asked my friends at RM if they could do this and how much etc and 2 boring non drivable freezing f.n cold winter months later the results are what you see below . The inside has been coated to resist future rusting as well as heat proof black paint on the outside and we actually drilled one very small hole in the lowest part of the pack bottom to allow water to escape thereby lengthening the time it will take between now and another rebuild . All galvanized mild steel that was questionable inside and out was replaced as well as the original asbestos bating between the outer and inner skins. All original ID plates were re welded in place using the same crappy looking factory welds intentionally. Even the welds on the seams although sealed ,were kept kinda sloppy for a reason as to replicate the original welds . The inside of the tailpipes those James Bond rifle barrel thingys ,were completely fine so reused but wrapped in a highly polished stainless tube instead of a chrome one . I highly doubt this will have any detrimental effect on sound . The same cannot be said id think if one did the entire pack in stainless however. on the pipes I opted for stainless as a nod to future maintenance and polishing etc . The stainless tips have been specially welded to the mild steel Y tube so as not to crack re dissimilar metals. Hopefully Canada and the world will have a summer once again and I can enjoy them in full song . Yeah, that one's a bit too long but I kind of like some other things about what I can see. I think they should take the butt ugly Panamera platform and evolve it into a new Espada but with a twelve if possible. And don't have a bunch of familial styling cues from their other models just for the sake of brand identity. Make the car's beauty stand on it's own.
is there another view, front angle ? nice design, exception of the wheelbase to long between the front wheel and the door edge !
Bob I bought 3 original mufflers 4 years ago and one was nos and no wrinkle paint on Any of them so I didn't apply what was never there originally ... Gary Espada 8394
Well maybe it varied then? Mine still had the paper ANSA labels as well as the welded tags on the cannisters so perhaps it was a replacement? I can't believe those labels survived all those years. I guess they don't get as hot as I might have thought? Though the rotted out tips made it seem original. A somewhat dubious 30K miles on the car when I got it but it was also almost 40 years so a pair of exhausts in that time is not unreasonable. I had everything blasted after welding the new tips (regular steel ANSA) on and then I wrinkle coated it. It's been OK so far. As we already discussed I think(?) mine had no red tape division between the paint and the chrome on the tips so I left it off. Was that how they were or had mine just fallen off? Good idea I think on the SS tips Gary. You're lucky to have RM reasonably close by to make this happen as exhaust fitting is no fun in my book. Great work per usual.
for sure like every part on every car depending on which way the wind blew , it varied LOL no red stripes and no red in the ends either MY originals still had the large ANSA sticker on the body of the muffler pack. I would like to find a pair of those larger ones to stick back on if possible ... Gary Espada 8394
I still have one somewhere? I think if you scan it someone can "fix it" and print you a new one. Mine were too old to still be showing anything other than black inside of those tailpipes.
Hello All, as a newbie in this forum I would like to initially introduce myself. My name is Bernhard Jungblut and I am located in Potsdam, Germany. My profession is patent attorney and my hobbies include classic sportscars. Among others I enjoy a Jarama since about 20 years (and around 70.000 km) and a Maranello (550). I do all the maintenance and most of repairs by myself and I am so lucky to have a fully equipped garage right on our estate. The Jarama actually had only one or two on-the-road brakedowns, one most memorable when overtaking a modern Porsche on a fast country road ))), just in this moment the distributor finger came loose, producing a series of really dramatically sounding missfires associated with complete loss of power. Fortunately the screw that had come loose did no damage in the distributor and about 15 minutes afterwards we were on the road again. Believe it or not, old Lamborghinis can be very reliable, provided that they are properly looked after. The same is actually true for the Maranello, which has in the meanwhile clocked around 70.000 km in total without mayor problems, the only serious issues being the intake manifold gaskets and the clutch pressure hose (this being awful to replace, since one end is located on top of the clutch housing and gaining access is a cat-out-job). In occasional trackdays this car even tops many modern sportscars, although I seldom go more than maybe max. 95%. I love it because of its great track potential, while being absolute usable in everyday transportation situations. And fully wife compatible (as the Jarama as well). I also have an Espada #7545 since about 3 years and I am just at the edge that I might start enjoying this car as well. I will report in this respect in my next post
I am the unlucky person, who has bought this Espada (7545) from Mr. Moulin. Mr Moulin actually sold the car on behalf of Mr. Gerard Lopez (Genii Capital and Lotus Formula 1 team). I saw the car at the Techno Classica Fair in Essen, Germany, on April 01, 2011, and the purchase contract was concluded the same day with Mr. Moulin in person. About one week afterwards I had paid the car in advance (stupidly). The car was then received in July 2011 (!), but without any registration documents (or any other paperwork). I did not receive anything thereof until today, neither from Mr. Moulin, nor from Mr. Lopez. I entered court action in 2012 and now have a German title against Mr. Moulin (Regional Court Potsdam 1 O 5/12). Enforcement thereof in Luxemburg is somewhat cumbersome and, accordingly, I intend to enforce this title as soon as I am informed about Mr. Moulin attending a fair in Germany. Mr. Moulin simply had informed me by email (after I had received the car without documents and inquired) that all the papers had been lost in the office of Mr. Lopez. Thereafter both turned out non-responsive to my further inquiries, in particular my request to provide an affidavit stating that Mr. Lopez had lost the papers. Such an affidavit is an essential condition to obtain replacement registration documents from the German authorities. After having presented the full case several times to the registration authority in person, I in January filed a written request to furnish replacement documents in order to obtain a written refusal decision, which I then might challenge at the Administration Court, since there is no way for me to fulfill the "normal" prerequisite, namely provision of the affidavit. Just two weeks ago I then received the information by the authority that the prerequisite might indeed be circumvented, if I obtain several other documentation and/or official conformations from different authorities, comprising the Luxemburg Car Registration Authority. This all presently appears to be on a good way and I am somewhat more confident than last year to finally obtain replacement papers so that road registration in Germany become possible. By the way, recently Olivier Nameche informed me, that he NEVER confirmed to Mr. Moulin about Tonino Lamborghini being a pre-owner. This would then be a clear misrepresentation in the above-cited statement of Mr. Moulin.
A question to the experts, I am redoing all the technical stuff in my Jarama, including the brake system. While calipers, servos etc. were all provided by Girling, the brake master cylinder is listed in the Girling lists for Jarama and Espada as "not of Girling manufacture". Looking at the part itself did not enlight me further. To put it short, does anyone know who provides a service kit for the brake master cylinder (preferably within the EU)? Jarama and Espada should be the same.
