I ordered the movie Rendezvous and am looking forward to watching it.

I have read a number of posts about the film in FerrariChat and elsewhere. Most accounts I have read claim the car is a 275 GTB. I have also read claims that it is a Daytona or a Mercedes.

Does anyone know what type of car was used and, if it was a Ferrari, what serial number?

    Thanks,

    Art S. 7919

    Thanks Bob,

The link was very interesting and informative.

Now that I have the DVD, I tried watching it frame by frame, trying to see the car's image in various windows along the route, nothing conclusive anthough in one frame, the relection appears to be of a white car.

I would still like to know if it actually was a 275 and if it is a Ferrari, what SN.

Rendez-vous, short film by Claude Lelouch.

According to the book I have under my eyes, it is a 275 GTB, but I have never watched this movie. It seem to be a film with a great V12 sound in all the movie !

I downloaded a small format version a year ago at http://www.nsxsc.com/videos.html

However that link appears gone now. Copyright I suppose.

Every reference that I have ever read lists the car as a 275 GTB

I thought I read somewhere a long time ago that the car was quite possibly an Alpine-Renault. Never seen it. Wanted to, but refused to pony up the $50 for a ten minute video.

That is a great video -- I remember seeing it years ago.

Does anyone know of other good Ferrari-related videos / films?

I'm want to find Chris Rea's "La Passione" where his replica 156 Sharknose is used, about a kids passion for Von Tripps and Ferrari. Anyone know where it can be purchased?Of course there's Grand Prix.

I've seen this and two other Paris videos but the one I saw and downloaded is at least twice as long. One of my favorites is Joan Lunden's "Ferrari - Behind Closed Doors." I don't remember where I got it, it's 80 megs, but it has some great footage in it. I'm sure that someone here on Ferrarichat has all of this available, just not sure where to look.

    Dan, Alain, Bryan, and Jeff,

    Thanks for the responses.

Rendezvous is definitely worth watching even if it is only 8 minutes and 47 seconds long! It is now on DVD, remastered and less than $30.

The camera is mounted very low (on the front bumper I believe). This results in a heightened sense of speed. If you watch it with a critic’s eye, you may question various aspects - especially the soundtrack (though I enjoyed listening to it). I've seen it 6 or 7 times now (easy to do due to its length) and enjoyed it each time - no matter what the criticism, its one hell of a drive!

Unfortunately, I have not seen any evidence as to the type of car. I too have heard various rumors. I like to believe it is as 275 but besides word of mouth there is no evidence. Does anyone know if Claude Lelouch owned a Ferrari?

    Art S.

PS. Alain, what is the book you are referring to?

Walter Matthau driving his 275 GTB/4 in NYC traffic in a suit and motorcycle helmet in "A New Leaf", was fun to watch, if only for the Ferrari.

Don't know if its on DVD yet but "Grand Prix" hands down, even Enzo watched the filming and allowed footage to be shot in his factory, incredible race scenes filmed by a Gt40, interesting Enzo would only allow using the Ferrari name if they were never to lose which was why they had Sarti the Ferrari driver crash and the Enzo character Manetti then pull his team from the race so the James Garner character could win.

I have already worn out two copies of it. I fast forward to every Daytona scene about three times per session.

Best non-Ferrari DVD (by far) is "IMAX Super Speedway." Mario and Michael putting the Lola through its' paces. Best at max volume due to the superior sound quality.

You can download it on Kazaa, I think they call it Getaway In Paris, it's in avi format about 60,000kb. I saw it ages ago, not very good quality though I'm sure the dvd is much better. It's just an in car shot driving through paris quite fast, but a long time ago, it was the inspiration for the getaway in stockhom videos www.getawayinstockholm.com the first three of these can also be found on Kazaa
